Sightings in Finland: Humanoids in Längelmävesi?

This section details a personal account by Ilona Johansson-Paasonen of an experience at the end of August 1945 while staying in a sauna by the shore of Längelmävesi in Kangasala parish. Waking up before five in the morning, she noticed a stream of light under the roof edge. Initially thinking someone was outside with a torch, she was shocked when she raised the curtain to see a dazzling bright fire ball, approximately 10 meters in diameter, approaching the sauna from the shore of Sahalahti, about 4 kilometers away, at a dizzying speed. The object soared over the lake surface, appearing to be between 200-300 meters from the sauna and obscuring the scenery. After the fire ball disappeared, she observed a two-meter-long, dark, "log-like" object slowly sliding in the water and approaching the shore.

Subsequently, she noticed a strange-looking grey animal, described as a round ball with hair standing on end, in terror near the pier. She presumed it was a neighbor's Lapp dog. The "log-like" object was identified as a narrow boat resembling a canoe, with a tall, slender man in a green coverall standing in the prow. Another man was steering a machine inside a glass bulb at the aft. Despite the boat's proximity, she heard no motor or splashing, only a deep wake in the water. At that time, Finnish press did not widely report on UFOs, leaving her perplexed. She later saw smaller "fire balls" (ufos) in the sky, about the size of a football.

A Saucer Over Lamujärvi - A Mother Ship in Otaniemi

This section presents two further sightings, one by a "Carpenter NN" from Nivala.

Sighting at Lamujärvi (October 4, 1963)

The carpenter reported building a summer cottage at the shore of Lamujärvi in Pyhäntä parish. On an overcast evening while fishing, he observed a thing like a wash basin or saucer made of stainless steel descend from the clouds. It hovered close to the lake surface for some time before rising again and vanishing. The object was estimated to be 20 meters wide and hovered about 200 meters away, causing the lake surface to bubble or billow. He did not see any humanoids and noted that the nearest neighbor was 10 kilometers away.

Sighting in Otaniemi (1954)

Another sighting by the same carpenter took place in Otaniemi around Whitsunday in 1954. While visiting his brother, he saw a red object in the sky resembling a pencil sharpened on its other end. The object had no wings or tail, moved very slowly at an altitude of several kilometers, and remained high in the sky. He discerned something like windows on it, suggesting it might have been a Zeppelin or airship. He heard a rattling sound, possibly from a motor cycle at full speed, which seemed to come from the flying object. It was visible for at least five minutes, moving slowly from north to south. The witness asserted, "THIS IS TRUE."
