Pennsylvania Legends

The newsletter includes several local legends from Pennsylvania:

• AXE MURDER HOLLOW (Millcreek, Erie County): This legend tells of a jealous husband who beheaded his wife and possibly his children before setting the house on fire. Years later, a young couple's car got stuck near the creek, and the woman encountered the ghost of her dead boyfriend, hanging by his ankles with blood dripping from his slit throat.
• DEAD MAN'S CREEK (Girard, Erie County): In the summer of 1861, a community celebration was interrupted by the discovery of a dead man floating in the creek. The man, about 21 years old, was dressed in a new military uniform from the War of 1812, with his throat slit. Theories suggest he was transported from the past or another spiritual plane. His ghost is said to walk along the creek searching for his assassin.
• LACKAWANNA STATION HOTEL (Scranton, Lackawanna County): Built in 1908, this historic landmark, formerly a Radisson property, served as a morgue for soldiers during World War I. It is known for reports of freezing rooms, lights turning on and off, and ghost sightings, including a phantom bellhop and the ghost of a woman who jumped from the 6th floor. The hotel also reportedly has a haunted basement where the morgue was located.

Crypto-zoology Information in Pennsylvania

UFORCOP is seeking information on sightings of Panthers, Mountain lions, Cougars, Thunderbirds, Large Snakes, Strange Creatures, and Bigfoot in Pennsylvania. News & Updates

Upcoming & Ongoing Expeditions: The UFO Research Center of Pennsylvania, Phantoms and Monsters Fortean Research Team, and others are converging on Clearfield, Blair, and Cambria Counties to research bi-pedal creature sightings. Clearfield County is the initial target area, with Cambria and Blair Counties next.

Reports of Paranormal Activity near Indian Burial Grounds or areas where Indigenous peoples encamped in Pennsylvania are also requested, along with detailed maps.

Kecksburg / Fireball Incident: UFORCOP is looking for photographs of Military Trucks and Equipment, along with personnel, at the scene of the Kecksburg / Fireball Incident of December 9, 1965, in Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County. Contact [email protected].

Cold Case Researchers: They are seeking seasoned independent researchers to join the UFORCOP CCU in Pennsylvania and other states. Interested individuals should contact [email protected].
