Magazine Overview

This issue of CIPEX e GENA, identified as N. 36-38 and dated December 1963 to May 1964, with an editorial date of March 1, 1964, is published by CIPEX and edited by W. Buhler in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The cover features the title 'MONTH' and displays several photographic figures illustrating UFO-related phenomena.

Research by SBEDV

The magazine presents research conducted by SBEDV (Sociedade Brasileira de Estudos Sobre Discos Voadores), detailing various UFO sightings and encounters.

Cavaru Incident (Fig. 1-4)

This section details an event that occurred at the Horacio de Mello school in Cavaru, near the railway station in Paraiba do Sul, Rio de Janeiro. The incident, first published in papers on June 19, 1958, was later investigated through interviews with the schoolmaster in 1959 and 1963. During recreation time at 3 PM, pupils and the teacher spotted a luminous object with a tail traveling over hilltops approximately 3 to 4 km away. Upon re-entering the classroom, a girl in the second row exhibited an intense luminosity on her girdle, which was initially dismissed as a joke. However, the teacher later noted strange occurrences, including a boy who claimed his eyelids felt heavy. The class then observed a luminous sphere, about 20 cm in diameter, trailing away in a helicoidal movement towards a nearby hill. A fine silvery powder fell on the observers, sticking to their hair and skin, which was washed off. The object was seen trailing away about 10 to 20 meters above the ground.

Rupert Kiener Archives (Fig. 5)

Fig. 5 refers to an approximately 35-meter diameter round object with a metallic and bluish touch and an asymmetric cupola. This object was observed accompanying a General's truck in the mountains between Caraguatatuba and São Jose dos Campos, an airforce research base. Six other witnesses observed this event during a 70 km trip. No noise was heard, and no windows were seen.

Mr. Kiener's Wife Sighting (Fig. 6)

Fig. 6 describes an object seen by Mr. Kiener's wife on May 31, 1963, at noon, flying slowly southwards at high altitude.

Emilia Pacheco de Castro Sighting (Fig. 7)

Fig. 7 refers to five objects seen by Emilia Pacheco de Castro on January 10, 1964, at 7:30 AM, overflying the area.

Praça João Mendes, São Paulo Sighting

This report describes a circular object with intense, metallic brilliance seen by numerous witnesses over the sea for 15 minutes. 'Box-like objects' were observed falling from it into the water. Hours later, the same object was seen flying around spots in Alagoinha, as if 'in search of something'.

Walter Sa Cardoso Report

Sr. Walter Sa Cardoso reported an event witnessed by Wilson Lustosa in April 1958. While fishermen were looking at the sky, a buzzing noise was heard, and a round object was seen increasing in size and falling towards the water. It stopped about 15 meters above the water, 40 meters from the group, and became immobilized. The object was described as having the height of a 'little village circus' but with three parts: an opaque inferior, an aluminum-colored superior, and a prominence on the latter with a light similar to a welder's arch. A row of quadrangular windows seemed to be located on a bulging rim, emitting a reddish light. The water below the craft appeared to be boiling. Irregular prolongations, like pieces of stiff cow's skin, hung from the bottom of the craft. The craft ascended and descended several times over an hour, with an ear-splitting noise.

José Gomes Cabral Report

José Gomes Cabral, a surveyor, reported a silent, spherical, chromium-colored aircraft moving towards a group at the spot 'Corrego do Cemiterio'. At a distance of 3 km, it appeared cigar-shaped, but farther away, it looked like a sphere. This sighting occurred on April 26, 1962, at 2 PM.

Casa Branca Sighting

On February 6, 1963, at Casa Branca, São Paulo, several persons saw a luminous object moving slowly.

Itabera Sighting

Approximately 1 km from Itabera, six witnesses saw a large luminous sphere moving from one side to the other with incredible speed.

Paraná and Santa Catharina Border Sighting

A 'strange object' was seen falling down with a tremendous explosion, as reported by people from São Pateu do Sul and Miss Clara Sialkowski.

Iguape Sighting

On October 29, 1963, at Iguape, south of Santos, an 8-year-old girl saw a luminous disc, described as 'bigger than those round bathtu-bes for babies' (30 cm), falling with enormous noise. It avoided hitting houses and landed near the river, crossing it in several jumps before diving. The water began to boil and become cloudy. Japanese farmer Issuo-Oikiti also witnessed some of these events. The girl's mother heard a noise like a 'jet liner'. Voluntary divers had difficulties locating the object in the muddy riverbed.

Editor's Note and General Commentary

The editor notes that readers are living in times of significant events, with governments being 'silenced' and heads of state facing physical threats. The note touches upon the concept of 'depolarisation of power' and the ongoing struggle for political liberty and equality. It also includes a footnote referencing a letter from Mrs. Silvia Sutton, who mentions a government official stating there is no reason to make public statements about UFO reports, but that governments maintain contact with other friendly governments.

Another footnote discusses H.W. Heason's article 'The Space Age' in Orbit, suggesting that each planet is a sphere of development tied to man's evolutionary process, and direct contact with Earth may not be feasible at this stage due to competition.

The text also references G. Adamski and his work on contact matters. It mentions K. Veit's booklet 'Erforschung ausserirdischer Weltraumschiffe' as a compilation of research on extraterrestrial spacecraft. The importance of distinct UFO groups collaborating is highlighted, with an example of the Austrian group in Linz observing luminous balls emitted from a spherical spaceship. The magazine also thanks H. Brettschneider for photographs and refers to an earlier SBEDV Bull. regarding microscopic aspects of emulsion grains and shadow grades.

Recommendations are made for 'Informationen der Gesellschaft fuer Interplanetarik' in Austria. A Swedish diplomat is quoted as saying the world needs to know the 'imbecility' by which it is governed. Suzanne Saunier is praised for her work in UFO research, and her book 'Planete' is mentioned for its unconventional approaches to understanding humanity.

Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance

The recurring themes in this issue are the detailed reporting of UFO sightings across Brazil, the presentation of witness testimonies, and the analysis of object characteristics. The editorial stance appears to be one of serious investigation into UFO phenomena, acknowledging the significance of these events and the potential for extraterrestrial contact, while also touching upon broader societal and political implications. The magazine encourages research and information sharing within the UFO community.

considering there is no reason for making statements to the public (about Ufo reports).. also (the government) keeps in touch with other.. friendly..governments.
