Summary
The July 1991 newsletter from the Phenomenon Research Association announces the formation of a study group for UFO and Crop Circle phenomena in the Derby area, with plans for regular monthly meetings. It details recent investigations into crop circles in Nottinghamshire, including events at Carlton-on-Trent, Sutton-on-Trent, and Mansfield, noting unusual geo-magnetic readings at the Mansfield site. The newsletter also mentions upcoming media appearances by an investigator and expresses a belief in regular visits to Earth by multiple alien species.
Magazine Overview
This document is the July 1991 newsletter from the Phenomenon Research Association, a UK-based organization focused on UFOs and Crop Circle phenomena. It announces the intention to form a study group in the Derby area and outlines plans for regular monthly meetings, the development of membership forms, and the establishment of a scientifically oriented group. The newsletter also addresses the practical consideration of financing the group.
Current "Events"
The newsletter reports that UFO activity in the Derby area is currently low, but the 'crop circle' season is underway. The author mentions being interviewed by the Derby Evening Telegraph for an upcoming article on UFO and crop circle investigations, and also participating in a chat program on BBC Radio Derby on July 16th, with the aim of generating further interest.
The author expresses hope that new 'undiscovered' circles will be found and that people who have experienced UFO incidents will feel comfortable sharing their stories with a scientific group that will listen seriously and in confidence. The newsletter asserts that there is evidence supporting the regular visitation of Earth by multiple alien species, some described as 'friendly' and others as having 'evil unknown purpose'. The aim is to provide a platform for group meetings where members can discuss cases and draw their own conclusions.
Circles in Nottinghamshire
This section details recent crop circle events in Nottinghamshire. On July 8th, the author was informed by Nottingham Police about a crop circle event at Carlton-on-Trent, north of Newark. Upon visiting the site on July 9th, four circles were observed in a wheat field on a south-facing slope. The main center circle was approximately 35 feet in diameter, with three surrounding circles varying between 15 and 18 feet in diameter. The wheat flow in all circles was anti-clockwise.
The farmer also reported two 'dumbell' shapes that had appeared on a neighboring farm at Sutton-on-Trent. The larger dumbell appeared on July 4th, and the smaller one on July 8th. Measurements, samples, and photographs were taken, but analysis of the smaller dumbell event was complicated by the area being trampled by sightseers.
Upon returning home, the author received a message about a 'Pictogram' (an unusual shaped event) at Mansfield. This event occurred in a barley field and was investigated with Mark Hayward, Chairman of the UFO Group Mansfield. The event had numerous 'pointers' indicating it was genuine. Measurements, samples, and photographs were taken, and the site was dowsed for geo-magnetic power. The results were described as 'startling', with strong power detected in the two main circle areas, causing fingers to tingle on metal rods. There was also a strong indication of a NE to SW 'Ley Line' or similar power at the site.
Crop head samples from the Mansfield site have been sent to Nottingham University for analysis. The newsletter concludes this section by mentioning a report of a crop circle at 'Husbands Bosworth', Leicestershire, for the third consecutive year.
Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The newsletter clearly adopts a stance that UFOs and alien visitations are real phenomena supported by evidence. It aims to legitimize the study of these topics by forming a 'scientifically orientated group' and encouraging witnesses to come forward. The editorial emphasizes the importance of taking these experiences seriously and suggests that multiple alien species are involved in visiting Earth, with varying intentions. The focus on investigations, data collection (measurements, samples), and analysis (sent to university) highlights a commitment to a methodical approach, despite the unusual nature of the subject matter.
Let it be plainly understood, that there is evidence to support the fact that our planet Earth has been and is still being regularly visited by alien beings. Not only one species, but several!
