Notizie C.I.S.U. (CISU News)

Obituary: Alberto Lazzaro, a founding member and activist in Fidenza, passed away on July 4th in a work accident. He was instrumental in local ufology groups and served on the CISU directive council. His library and UFO archive were left to an association.

Anniversaries: UFOITALIA, the CISU-promoted Italian UFO discussion circular on the Internet, celebrated its first anniversary on September 9th. In twelve months, it generated content equivalent to 1400 printed pages. The CISU website, CISU-On-Line, also surpassed 15,000 visitors since its activation in late 1995.

Directive Council Meeting: The CISU directive council met in Milan on September 28th, with several council members and associates present. Key discussions included the organization of the November national convention in Bologna, the agenda for the members' assembly, coordination of investigations and study projects, and the restructuring of the Center's periodic publications for 1998. It was decided to extend the UFO Forum technical discussion magazine to all members with an increase in dues and to purchase a photocopier for the headquarters.

The convention was for CISU members only and was preceded and followed by informal meetings and gatherings.

On Wednesday, September 10th, a loud boom was heard by thousands across the provinces of Pavia, Parma, and Massa Carrara. Some witnesses reported seeing a smoke or luminous trail falling towards the Apennines, leading to a search and rescue operation. No aircraft were found to be missing, and no wreckage was discovered.

Flap in Sardegna (Flap in Sardinia)

On the evening of September 14th, dozens of sightings of slow-moving, silent, reddish lights in groups of three were reported in the provinces of Sassari, Oristano, and Cagliari.
