Magazine Overview
Title: NICAP REPORTER
Issue: Vol. 5 No. 1, Issue No. 49
Date: October 1966
This issue of the NICAP Reporter is dedicated to documenting a significant number of UFO sightings that occurred primarily in August 1966 across various regions of North America, with a particular focus on Minnesota. The publication also includes information on new books related to UFO phenomena, upcoming NICAP meetings, and a special notice regarding a deceased member.
Cover Story: Directed Motion in the Atmosphere
The cover features a quote from Adm. Delmer Fahrney, U.S.N. Ret., stating, "There are objects coming into our atmosphere at very high speeds. The way they change position in formations and override each other would indicate that their motion is directed." This sets the tone for the issue, highlighting the advanced and deliberate nature of the observed phenomena.
Article 1: Mysterious Flying Object Factory in Brazil
Mel Noel, a former Air Force pilot who was assigned to track down flying objects, recounted a story told to him by an unnamed university professor in Mexico. This professor claimed to have learned of a secret laboratory in Brazil's Andes Mountains where Martian and earth scientists allegedly worked side-by-side. Noel stated that this laboratory stemmed from Guglielmo Marconi's pre-World War II attempts to harness electromagnetic forces. According to the professor, after Marconi's death in 1937, scientists continued the research, and Martian spaceships landed at the base. These Martians, satisfied with the peaceful nature of the scientists' endeavors, agreed to help them. Noel himself was scheduled to take a flight in an earth-produced flying object in November or December. The laboratory reportedly only allowed visitors who renounced their citizenship and decided never to return home.
