Mrs. Chester Burwash and her daughter, Mrs. Charles Rogers, described the object as bright, blinding white, noiseless, and round, passing northeast over their area around 9:45 p.m. They noted eight small lights underneath. Other residents in the Chehalis area also reported seeing the object, which remained unidentified.

In Detroit, Oregon, a motorist and her daughter reported seeing a glowing object resembling a giant Roman candle zooming through the sky near Big Cliff Dam. The object, seen around 1 a.m. Thursday, had a reddish and yellowish head with a long green tail that appeared to be shedding pieces. It moved from southwest to northeast.

Scientist Discounts UFO Stories

Dr. W.H. Pickering, director of the jet propulsion laboratory for the California Institute of Technology, expressed his view that it was highly improbable that beings from another world were sending observation craft to Earth. He was quite certain that practically all reports of flying objects have a rational explanation.

A "Thing" Leaves Its Mark

In Mackay, Australia, hotel licensee Mr. Jim Tilse and two other men reported seeing a mysterious 'thing' that landed near the hotel. The object was circular, bore about 30 lights, and left a circular scorch mark about 20 feet across. Mr. Tilse, a commercial pilot, described the object as being about 300 yards from the hotel, moving over treetops, and having a great bank of spotlights above a circular platform. He stated it had three legs and disappeared in a northerly direction. Constable B. Self of the Nebo police confirmed evidence of scorching.

Kailua Teacher Reports Strange Flying Object

A teacher in Kailua, Hawaii, reported seeing an unidentified flying object about three feet in diameter, 100 feet above the ground. The object emitted a faint white glow, was noiseless, and moved at bullet-like speed from northeast to southwest, then reappeared heading west to east. Each sighting lasted approximately three seconds.

Crater Causes Concern

A society interested in UFO data is investigating a mysterious crater in Tunstall, near Sunderland, England. Mr. Harry Lord of the Tyneside Society of UFO is seeking permission to explore a crater on Mr. Billy Smith's farm. Mr. Lord notes similarities to craters found in Britain during the summer of 1963, suggesting that official explanations for such formations have often been unsatisfactory. The crater is two feet deep and six feet across.

Flying Objects Seen in Sky by Puzzled Family in Auto

Loyale Babbitt reported that he and his family witnessed three bright objects in the sky at 4:30 a.m. while traveling near Blackfoot, Idaho. The objects were stationary, much larger than stars, with a third beam of light above the other two. They later joined and moved west at a rapid pace.

Bucksburn Four Spot Objects Flashing Over City at Night

Four youths in Bucksburn, Scotland, claim to have seen bright objects traveling across the sky. The objects had no trail, jerked along, and appeared to stop before sinking in the sky. They were observed for about 20 minutes.

A fast-moving object discovered in the constellation Monoceros about a month prior was still a mystery. Dr. A.D. Andres of the Armagh Observatory in Ireland is collecting all existing observations, and Professor Herget of the Minor Planet Center in Cincinnati is computing a preliminary orbit.
