This issue of The New Atlantean Journal, published quarterly, delves into a variety of unexplained phenomena, ancient mysteries, and esoteric subjects. The cover features a striking illustration of a winged, serpentine creature, hinting at the fantastical and unknown themes within.
Editorial: The Cycles of Life
The editorial, titled "The Cycles of Life," presents a philosophical perspective on human existence and learning. It posits that true understanding of life's lessons, such as pain and joy, can only be gained through direct experience. The author argues against the notion that Earth will cease to exist, asserting that its purpose is to serve as a 'School of Life' for human souls to learn and evolve. The piece emphasizes the importance of physical experience in this learning process and suggests that after learning, souls can explore other dimensions. It concludes by encouraging readers to 'LIVE IT!' and leave a clean classroom for future generations.
Plant Communication: Reading Your Mind!
A fascinating article explores the possibility that plants can read human minds. It references early research suggesting plants react similarly to humans on a galvanometer or lie detector. A portable unit is advertised that claims to allow communication with plants by attaching electrodes and thinking. Recent tests are mentioned where plants seemed to emit Theta brain wave frequencies, particularly when touched by a human. The article raises questions about whether plants act as conduits for human minds or detect 'spirit thought,' opening avenues for plant consciousness research.
The Ankh as an Atlantean Symbol
This in-depth article by Charles T. Weatherford, Jr. examines the Ankh symbol, exploring its origins and connections to Atlantean civilization. The author traces the symbol from early Sumarian civilization, linking it to the goddess Ishtar and the legend of Gilgamesh. It is suggested that the Ankh, a cross with a loop, was originally Ishtar's sandal strap, symbolizing elevated status and separation from mundane concerns. The symbol's progression is traced through Isis, Astarte, and Venus, representing the planet and the female. The article proposes that the Ankh was an Atlantean symbol for energies and emanations, later adopted by Egyptian culture as the 'Cross of Life.' It also touches upon the 'Ha Bay Roo' tribe, their possible connection to Hebrews, and the Qabalistic 'Tree of Life' forming a Looped Cross, suggesting a shared ancient understanding of universal energies.
Barter: A Fast-Growing Merchandising Technique
An advertisement for 'Barter News' highlights the practice of bartering as a significant and growing economic activity. It quotes U.S. News & World Report stating that 20% of the $1.2 trillion annual world trade is bartered. The publication offers thousands of barter listings, names of organizations, and 'how-to' articles. It emphasizes that barter allows individuals and businesses to acquire goods and services without using cash, making it a valuable strategy for both personal needs and business operations.
Letters to the Editor
The 'Letters to the Editor' section features several reader contributions:
- Mae Belle Minerich from Hot Springs, Arkansas, recounts a childhood encounter in 1918 with a small, human-like creature in a schoolhouse, which her mother attributed to a bear cub.
- Ethel Bolch from Alpaugh, California, renews her subscription and mentions her upcoming 87th birthday, referencing the 'time bomb' of California and recent observations of sudden deep holes and cracked cement walks.
- A letter mentions an article about a 'gold aura' near Temple, Texas, describing a light seen for over a hundred years that is believed to indicate buried treasure.
- Frank Brownley from Rochester, New York, inquires about Albert McDonald and his 'Hollow Earth Society' newsletter, seeking copies of the 'Hefferlen Manuscript.'
- Julia (via Enid Irwin, Area Reporter from Grants Pass, Oregon) reports seeing a brilliant orange UFO on August 6th, '81, which changed size from a plate to an eyeball.
An 'Open Letter to All Readers' encourages subscribers to use the reader pages for bartering personal items and requests Area Reporters to send in data concerning 'EarthChanges' and UFO reports.
Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The recurring themes in this issue revolve around the unexplained, ancient civilizations, esoteric symbolism, and alternative economic practices like bartering. The journal's stance appears to be one of open inquiry into phenomena that lie outside conventional understanding, encouraging readers to share their experiences and research. There is a strong emphasis on ancient wisdom, spiritual evolution, and the interconnectedness of life and the universe, as exemplified by the editorial and the article on the Ankh symbol.
Title: SAUCER SCOOP! UFO Mini-News!
Issue: PART 111 - Winter Issue!
Date: 1981 (implied by reports)
Publisher: Compiled from our Clipping Service (Lu Farrish, Plummerville, Ar)
Type: Newsletter/Magazine focusing on UFOs and related phenomena.
International Reports
The "SAUCER SCOOP!" section provides a rapid-fire series of international UFO reports. On September 9th, a blue object with a 'long tail' and a 'crown' head, making noises like 'ten trucks,' reportedly destroyed buildings in Senegal. In December, around the 10th, bright glowing objects appeared over Carvoerio, Portugal, and were observed chasing cars. Six fishermen in Pererias, Azores, panicked when a 'bright phenomenon' with a strong light appeared on the water for three hours.
In February 1981, two scientists in the Soviet Union controversially announced that after studying 250 UFO reports, they were 'real phenomena.' The issue questions this, asking 'WHAT IS A "PHENOMENA"?'
A robot was seen exiting a UFO in a small town near Madrid, Spain, on February 13, 1981. The robot was described as cubic-shaped, making noises like dogs.
In France, on February 26, 1981, a police 'Coronel' spotted a saucer-shaped object emitting a blue light, and another strong light was seen in the sky of Foucherans for over an hour.
In March 1981, two police officers in Abu Dhabi reported seeing a 'huge shining object about 200 feet off the ground.' A part of the object separated, changed color to dark red, and disappeared. The object's brightness was intense, making its size difficult to determine. The report humorously questions if it was a 'He and a She or an it?' and notes that the radio to headquarters did not work until after the object left.
U.S.A. Reports
The "U.S.A. REPORTS" section begins with a peculiar claim about the 'Ark of the Covenant' being an electronic device from 'another dimension.' A California minister is reportedly willing to invest $28 million in a reproduction, believing early Jews heard the 'voice of God' through this instrument.
Something else is predicted for 1984: a man-made comet, a new 'light in the sky,' made in West Germany and launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, costing $44 million. This object will study the 'solar wind' and have a blue and green tail thousands of miles long.
Several reports of 'Huge, Triangular, etc' UFOs are mentioned, including one from New Hampshire in April 1981, described as a 'huge triangle' with red lights and a high-intensity white light, appearing like 'five B-52s on a low altitude dlight, flying in a staggered V formation.' It was noted as flying 'LOW' and silently.
In Danville, Pennsylvania, in May 1981, 'FUZZIES' were seen falling from 'saucer-shaped objects,' 'exploding' or 'hatching' in front of the sun. These particles disintegrated as they fell.
A typical 'Angel Hair' report is contrasted with a case from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, in April 1981. An object at housetop level with three white lights forming a triangle was seen. It had a transparent window, and metallic partitions separated two other windows containing 'beings' with 'Very large heads, oriental-like eyes, gill-like ears and two holes instead of a nose.' A control panel was also visible, and an electrical blackout occurred. The 'beings' were reportedly operating the controls.
The Phaestos Disk: An Artifact of Atlantis?
This section, by THE CHAPEL OF AQUARIA, interprets symbols from the Phaestos Disk using Sir Arthur Evans' Scripta Minoa classification system. Each symbol is linked to a concept related to the human mind, soul, and spiritual development:
1. 'Marching figure of a man etc': Represents the outer, aware, conscious mind during waking hours.
2. 'Head of a man in a close-fitting helmet': Interpreted as a Mohawk Indian head, symbolizing the deeper, inner, militant soul, always alert and evaluating. Edgar Cayce is cited as believing the six nations of Indians were descendants of Atlanteans.
3. 'Head of a man etc': Symbolizes a priest, with decisions made in the evening, relating to the '8-cycles whirl' and a 'priestly earring.'
4. 'Naked man with his arms bound etc': Represents being mentally bound by thoughts and convictions, becoming victims and prisoners of one's own mind.
5. 'Naked male child': Signifies renewal at midnight, a rebirth.
6. 'Woman etc': Symbolizes the spirit, with the umbilical cord tourniquet. The flow of spirit is more intense at dawn, noon, sunset, and midnight. Astrobiologists of Atlantis saw the moon as a woman. The disk depicts the start of the fourth day of the waxing moon, with figures moving to cardinal points and fish moving into moon-chakrawing niches.
7. 'I have taken this sign to represent a woman's breast': Indicates the renewal-flow of the spirit's milk, referencing St. Paul's writings.
8. 'Fist bound with cestus, etc': The fist shoots the bow, symbolizing the human mind and body taking a beating in the afternoon due to fatigue.
9. 'This sign has every appearance of being a kind of tiara': The Priest wears this hood when passing judgment.
10. 'Arrow': The triangle-arrowhead fits on top of the arrow, becoming a moth-butterfly. The interpretation acknowledges that without an Atlantean dictionary, psychological and philosophical associations are valid.

The Living Things!
By Charles A. Marcoux, this article presents 'extraordinary photos' and sketches related to UFOs and 'BEINGS.' The editor apologizes for the paper quality affecting photo reproduction.
Two pictures were taken near a cave in New Mexico on October 13, 1978, showing a 'THING' that emerged from the cave, and another image (#16) showing a UFO with letters or symbols. The article suggests mines and caves are involved with UFOs and 'BEINGS.'
Two other pictures were taken near Black Mountain in Arizona, where a 'THING' or 'BEING' appeared. Marcoux believes these spots are entrances to other realms. He states that 'BEINGS' are everywhere and involved in a struggle in 'cavern worlds' and on Earth. He terms these entities 'THE THINGS' and notes they fly in 'fire-ships' (UFOs), representing a different form of life.
Marcoux's new book, which shows many photos of this 'strange world,' is mentioned, and readers are urged to obtain it.

Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The recurring themes in this issue are UFO sightings from various global locations, with a focus on unusual characteristics and behaviors of the objects and alleged occupants. There's a strong emphasis on the 'New Age' perspective, including channeling, psychic abilities, spiritual growth, and alternative communities. Ancient mysteries, such as Atlantis and the Phaestos Disk, are explored through a metaphysical lens. The editorial stance appears to be one of open inquiry into these phenomena, presenting reports and theories without definitive conclusions, often posing questions to the reader and encouraging personal interpretation. There's a blend of sensational reporting with more philosophical and spiritual explorations.
This issue of STAR, published in Shropshire, England, on July 16, 1980, features a prominent cover story titled "The big HUMMMM," investigating a mysterious low-frequency noise that is baffling scientists worldwide. The magazine also includes articles on dowsing, ancient UFOs and their connection to the Bermuda Triangle, and the sacred Black Stone of the Kaaba.
The Big Hum Phenomenon
The lead article, by Bruce Sandham, details the global mystery of the "Big Hum," a persistent, low-pitched, monotonous throbbing sound that has been reported in over 20 countries. The World Health Organization has initiated studies into the phenomenon, with scientists concentrating their research in Britain's West Country. Reports describe the sound as originating from the air, not carried by the wind, and most noticeable in calm weather. Similar noises have been heard in Australia, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and the Arctic. Reverberations have even been detected by NASA spacecraft and Australian radio telescopes. The hum has also been reported in Washington, Moscow, Pekin, and Rome, and even in Paris, despite French President D'Estaing's dismissal of it as the "English malaise." Millions of people report that the humming disturbs their lives, often described as intensely irritating. While some cases have been diagnosed as tinnitus, the majority involve a sound audible to everyone. Dr. G. Sachs, project leader at the WHO's Geneva headquarters, expressed initial puzzlement but acknowledged the phenomenon's reality due to widespread reports. The Environmental Health Department in Bristol has invested heavily in equipment to locate the source of the hum plaguing the city.
Search and Discover Through Dowsing
Authored by Hank Smyth, this section introduces dowsing as a "psychic radar system" or "ESP Machines" capable of locating buried treasure, lost dogs, and missing car keys. The article explains that dowsing is not just for water witching anymore and can be learned by anyone. Dowsers use skills for treasure hunting, mineral prospecting, missing person searches, nutritional analysis, medical diagnosis, healing, past life research, and exploring consciousness. The "ESP Machines" are dowsing rods (Y-rod, L-rods, straight wand) and pendulums, which provide "yes" or "no" answers based on programmed responses. The article provides instructions on how to make and use these tools, emphasizing the importance of precise questioning for accurate results. It suggests using map dowsing for locating buried treasure or missing persons by dividing a map into squares and using a pendulum to pinpoint locations.
Interdimensional Communicator: The "Stone" of the Kaaba
This article by Patrick O'Connell, President of The New Atlanteans, discusses the sacred Black Stone (Hajar al Aswud) located in the Kaaba in Mecca. It notes that little is known about the stone, which is said to have originally been a ruby from heaven, now blackened by pilgrims' tears. The article explores the belief that the stone emits a compelling force or hypnotic message. It suggests that the stone might be composed of a specific arrangement of crystals, citing the Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia which describes it as an irregular oval composed of about a dozen smaller stones. The author also mentions other 'talking' or 'sacred' stones discovered in North and South America, hinting at the possibility of rediscovering 'lost' sacred stones when the "Lost Hall Of Records" is found.
Ancient UFOs are Responsible for the Bermuda Triangle
Dr. Ronald P. Anjard proposes a theory that ancient UFOs are responsible for the Bermuda Triangle phenomenon. He suggests that mankind has existed on Earth for over 250,000 years, with ancient Pyramids built as energy collectors. Citing ancient Sanskrit writings and Hopi legends, he describes 'space ships' and flying war 'shields.' Pyramids, according to the article, were part of an ancient "total" earth energy system, possibly designed with the help of "ancient astronauts." The uncontrolled energy generated by these Pyramids led to pole shifts, catastrophic land changes, and the submergence of Atlantis. The article posits that the Bermuda Triangle effect is caused by energy dispersed from a sunken Pyramid once part of Atlantis, located in the North American region, possibly the Grand Canyon area. It also notes that over 50% of Americans believe in UFOs, making ancient astronauts and Atlantis plausible subjects of study.

An advertisement offers limited sets of 12 colored prints depicting Egyptian Kings and Queens, based on paintings by Winifred, daughter of archeologist Brunton, who worked on Egyptian Tombs in the 1920s. These prints, featuring figures like King Tutankhamon and Haremhad, are available for $10.00 per set from the NEW ATLANTEAN JOURNAL.
Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The magazine consistently explores themes related to the unexplained, ancient mysteries, alternative science, and the New Age movement. There is a clear interest in phenomena that challenge conventional scientific understanding, such as the 'Big Hum,' dowsing, ancient astronaut theories, and mystical artifacts like the Black Stone. The editorial stance appears to be open to speculative and esoteric interpretations of history and phenomena, encouraging readers to explore these topics further. The inclusion of advertisements for related books, newsletters, and services reinforces this focus on a New Age and paranormal readership.
This issue of THE NEW ATLANTEAN JOURNAL, dated Fall 1981, delves into mysteries of ancient civilizations, paranormal phenomena, and esoteric subjects. The cover story, "THE HIDDEN CITY OF CHIHUATLAN" by Charles A. Marcoux, explores legends of a secret city in Mexico.
The Hidden City of Chihuatlan
The article "THE HIDDEN CITY OF CHIHUATLAN" by Charles A. Marcoux (Part One) recounts the legend of a hidden city in a canyon in Old Sonora, Mexico, near Chihuahua and Sinaloa. This "underworld" entrance is said to lead to a "Citadel," sometimes called the "Pit of Momiclte" or "Quetzlcoatl." After Cortes captured Mexico City, Aztec nobles and priests, along with their treasures and wealth, reportedly hid in southern Mexico and Central America. They re-established their kingdom in Old Sonora within an "underworld" at an ancient Lemurian city called "Ketch," now known as the "Citadel."
In 1539, Coronado and Fray Marcos searched for Cibola, the seven golden cities, and the "fountain of youth." Many Aztecs harbored hatred for the rich land barons and the Priest class due to sacrifices. The article suggests the Aztec class overthrew the rich and Priest class, and Coronado had many Aztec followers in his pursuit of the Hidden City. However, the Aztecs had sealed the entrances to the "cavern world." Coronado sent Aztec trackers, who traveled about 25 miles a day, to find the hidden city. They found a large canyon near present-day Alamos, Sonora, Mexico.
Page 30 continues the narrative, stating that runners returned to Coronado with news of locating Cibola, a "City of Gold." A second runner reported a tale of horror: other trackers were slaughtered near a large cave by "strange anilam-like men," with a few being carried into the cave. Part Two of this story is promised for the Winter/December issue.
The issue thanks Rev. Marcoux for excerpts from his books, "I SEARCH FOR THE PORTALS" and "THE HIDDEN WORLD," and provides contact information for obtaining them.
The Astral Traveler!
This section invites readers to share their experiences of "astral-trips" or visits to strange lands, dimensions, or houses, which they may have had in dreams or other "deja vu realms." The journal expresses interest in reprinting these experiences if they are kept short and to the point, requiring name and address, with an option to request anonymity.
Past Lives and Dianetics
A prominent advertisement promotes the book "Have You Lived Before This Life?" by L. Ron Hubbard, which presents 41 cases of adults recalling past lives without drugs or hypnosis. The book details their experiences and how they were affected, and describes counselling sessions used to facilitate recall. It addresses questions about the difference between past life recall and reincarnation, "out of body" experiences, and why people cannot easily remember past lives. A special offer is made for purchasing "Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health" by the same author at a reduced price when ordered with "Have You Lived Before This Life?"
Sacred Caves and Lost Cities of the Ancients!
Patrick O'Connell, President of The New Atlantean Research Society, writes about rumored "Lost" cities and caves in South America, possibly linked to the sinking of Atlantis or the Spanish conquest. Legends speak of these places being "haunted" by evil spirits and potentially "Thought-Guarded" by ancient priests. The article questions a connection between these legends and UFO sightings in areas with underground tunnels. It references T.F. Thiselton's 1893 book "The Ghost World" and an account of a haunted emerald mine in Peru guarded by a "dragon."
Desmond Leslie's "Flying Saucers Have Landed" is cited regarding a legend about Cuchulain, an Irish mythological hero. The article suggests that ancient weapons described in Irish mythology, such as the "Thunder Feat," parallel descriptions in Sanskrit texts like "Indra's Dart" and the "Brahma weapon." Similarities are drawn between Cuchulain's chariots and the Vedic manuscripts' descriptions of Vimanas (UFOs).
It is mentioned that survivors of a battle involving Cuchulain fled to the "City of the Three Peaks," a mountain fortress in South America, associated with Atlantean capitals and the "Tripple City" of the Mahabharta, destroyed by an "atomic bolt" or "Brahma Weapon." This city's image is depicted on Mayan and Toltec inscriptions and ancient coins.
Ancient Technology and Tunnels
John Freeman's "Suppressed and Incredible Inventions" is mentioned as a source for how Ancients built their cities. The article notes an account of a South American explorer, Col Fawcett, who discovered a plant juice that could soften rock and who supposedly descended into subterranean tunnels. It states that numerous accounts from writers and explorers describe similar smooth-walled tunnels globally.

Open Letter from the Editor
The editor addresses readers about not raising prices despite increasing postal costs. To compensate, the journal will sacrifice eight pages per issue, reducing the total page count to manage weight and avoid rate increases. Some articles will be run in full length but broken into several issues, and some features will be dropped or used less frequently. The editor notes that many New Age publications have failed due to high costs, and The Journal's approach is to sacrifice pages rather than increase reader costs. They thank readers for their understanding and patience.
Luminous Beings Squeezed My Head
This section reports on an incident from "HERALD" (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 4/24/80) where Nelson Sayago claimed he was attacked by two "strange luminous creatures" who squeezed his head until he passed out. He woke up blocks away and was hospitalized for a nervous breakdown.

The book is described as a definitive work that expands understanding of paranormal phenomena, covering UFOs, mystery lights, free energy devices, crystal skulls, thought photography, cattle mutilations, psychic surgery, and ghost rockets. Part Two explains these phenomena through fascinating theories, and Part Three presents a message about the dangers of Soviet psychotronic mind control research. The book is a 288-page paperback, illustrated, priced at $8.95.
Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The recurring themes in this issue include ancient mysteries and lost civilizations (Chihuatlan, Atlantis, South American legends), paranormal phenomena (UFOs, psychic experiences, "luminous beings"), esoteric practices (astral travel, meditation, hypnosis, occult studies, numerology), and speculative science/technology (ancient inventions, future communication). The editorial stance appears to be one of exploring unconventional ideas and phenomena, encouraging reader participation, and maintaining publication despite financial challenges by reducing content rather than increasing prices. The publication seems to cater to a readership interested in New Age concepts, ufology, and alternative history.
This issue of MYSTERIOUS features several articles exploring unexplained phenomena and ancient mysteries. The cover story, "BIGFOOT'S PORTAL!" by Virginia Louise, posits that Bigfoot may exist in multiple dimensions, with water acting as a catalyst for its appearances. Another significant piece, "MYSTERIOUS INTAGLIOS" by Dr. C. Ralph Campo, details the giant geoglyphs near Blythe, California, discussing their possible origins with the Yuman people and the ongoing efforts to preserve them from damage. The magazine also delves into ancient legends and theories surrounding lost lands and civilizations, including "ATLANTIS AND MYTHOLOGY" by Jon Douglas Singer, which examines myths of sunken lands like IERE and Lykontia in the Caribbean and West Indies, linking them to the broader Atlantis legend.
Bigfoot's Portal!
Virginia Louise's article suggests that Bigfoot is a world-wide mystery that inhabits two planes of existence, moving between them like sea creatures. She proposes that water is the catalyst for all reported Bigfoot sightings. Louise notes that while a patient photographer might capture Bigfoot in both worlds, its visits are unpredictable. She contrasts this with traditional tracking methods, suggesting that native Indians, attuned to nature, know the 'portals' where Bigfoot appears and disappears. This knowledge, she states, has been rediscovered and publicized by Capt. Bruce Cathie in his books on harmonic grids. Louise also shares her personal experience, recounting a mining venture in the Santa Lucias and her subsequent pursuit of Bigfoot reports in the Lagunas near Julian, San Diego County, and the Anza-Borrego Desert. In February 1981, she met a young Indian who expressed interest in Bigfoot, claimed to have seen it on his reservation, and knew the location of its hiding places, offering to guide her there.
Louise recounts a journey with this Indian escort in her "fearfully storm-wrecked" van. They hiked down a canyon, where she observed a small stream. Despite the initial descent into sunless gloom, her escort refused to enter a 'taboo area' where caves were located. She initially disbelieved his story until he refused to enter the area. She notes that no amount of money or incentive would make an Indian enter such taboo ground. They waited to observe Bigfoot, who reportedly emerges to walk around and drink from old rock-troughs. The escort mentioned that Bigfoot sometimes hangs out by a wrecked house. Louise declined to drive down the dark road, and they hiked back to her van, which was concealed in brush. She drove out of the reservation at dusk. A note indicates that the continuation of this experience will be in the next issue.
Mysterious Intaglios of Blythe
Dr. C. Ralph Campo, Dean of the University of Psychic Sciences, writes about the Mysterious Intaglios of Blythe, California. These gigantic figures, including human shapes, spirals, and four-legged creatures, are only visible from the air. Campo notes their resemblance to the Intaglios in Peru's Nazca desert, made famous by the film "Chariots of the Gods." He suggests these are among the best collections of Intaglios in North America, including Mexico, Alaska, and Canada. Located near the Colorado River, these figures have been protected by concerned citizens with a wire fence. Campo discusses theories about their origin, with some archaeologists believing they are part of the YUMAN speaking Indians' creation myths. The animal figure is identified as NUMETA, a supernatural being created at the beginning of the globe, invested with power by the Creator God MUSTAN-HO, taking the form of a human and a cougar. The article states that lucky Indians who dream of NUMETA gain physical and psychic power. These Indians, who traveled to the west coast, created shrines from rocks. Unfortunately, some motorcycle drivers have intentionally tried to destroy these monuments. Some figures are 200 feet long.
The article includes a photograph comparing a figure to Michael Angelo's drawing of man, and notes that "chariots" of man, specifically off-road vehicles, have damaged 80% of the known Intaglios along the Colorado River, with some damage being deliberate. The figure near Blythe is nearly 200 ft long. A 1932 photo shows the Intaglios before vehicle damage, and another image shows wheel cuts indicating deliberate attempts to destroy the art. A pentagon-shaped fence was erected in the mid-1950s to protect the human and animal figures, with assistance from Blythe's Palo Verde High School and businessmen. Subsequent attempts to damage the fences with vehicles were unsuccessful. The latest efforts to protect the Intaglios involved 25 volunteers over Washington's Birthday weekend, with many responding to an article in SUNSET MAGAZINE, which also generated over 100 letters from people wanting to help.
Campo provides precise location details for finding the Intaglios, involving exits from Freeway 10 and driving on Highway 95. He describes a dirt road leading to a turnout, followed by a walk south to a small mesa known as the MYSTIC MAZE. This 'maze' is comprised of parallel windows 3 to 4 feet apart and 6 to 8 inches high. The maze played a purification role for the living and the dead in Mohave and Yuman culture. The Mohave Indians were known for their stamina and traveled extensively. It was their custom to purify themselves in the Mesa upon returning home, considering it Holy Ground. They believed departed souls passed through the maze to purify themselves before entering the next world. The article recommends viewing the Intaglios by air and advises making reservations at least a week in advance with local air services like Blythe Aviation, Hess Aviation, Lake Havasu Air Service, Quality Aviation, and Aero International. The information was gathered with the help of the Blythe Chamber of Commerce and the Public Library. A future issue will feature Dr. Campo relating a UFO sighting over the Intaglios.
Atlantis and Mythology
Jon Douglas Singer, M.A., explores the connection between mythology and the Atlantis Legend. He references British scholars Harold Wilkins and Egerton Sykes, who suggested that mythology holds clues to Atlantis. Wilkins' research into legends from Trinidad in the West Indies points to a land called IERE, rich in gold, which sank thousands of years ago. People could travel overland to South America, and the Iereans reportedly used slaves and possessed a plate-like flying machine. Another legend from Grenada, recounted by a cook named Adela, also speaks of a drowned IERE, feared for a golden serpent idol and golden knives. Adela believed Trinidad was connected to IERE and that its people came from the east, with IERE sinking into the sea when the land broke up.
Singer also relays tales from mixed populations in the West Indian Islands. An elder from Grenada spoke of a golden road from IERE to South America and rule by Great Kings, mentioning slave stories and a volcanic eruption that destroyed IERE, with ancestors of the Caribs escaping to Grenada. Tales from a Carib Indian settlement in St. Vincent describe a "Big Country" that sank into the sea after a violent earthquake, with Trinidad, Barbados, and St. Vincent being part of IERE before its submersion. The people of St. Vincent reportedly had funeral wakes originating from this lost land, and the Caribs were technologically advanced, with their King possessing a golden crown and some individuals flying on "golden plates," which Singer speculates might have been UFOs.
Another tradition suggests a benevolent prophet saved some people before the land submerged. Wilkins noted a resemblance between this legend and that of the Irish of Galway, who believe in a land called Eire in the remote west that sank beneath the sea. Egerton Sykes, an Atlantis scholar, theorizes that the Caribbean Isles were once a single landmass called Lykontia, destroyed by asteroids and meteors around 4,000 B.C. Sykes believes petroglyphs and sculptures in Haiti illustrate Lykontia's sinking. He also proposed migration from the Sahara to Cuba, merging with the ancestors of the Caribs. Sykes' evidence is based on comparative studies of mythology, archaeology, and anthropology. Geological evidence supports a land link between Caribbean islands, with Michael Craton's book "A History of the Bahamas" depicting a vast sunken land-mass from the Bahamas to Cuba in 25,000 B.C. Divers have reportedly sighted sunken cities north of Cuba and off the coast of Yucatan.
The article mentions "Divine Horsemen, Voodoo Gods of Haiti," which briefly describes an "Island Below The Sea" where deities and the souls of the dead reside, including the god Agwe on the island of Minfort. Singer concludes that there is a recurring theme of sunken islands and magical cities that may verify the Atlantis Legend, suggesting that Caribbean mythology and folklore could yield clues to sunken ruins and ancient traditions dating back to the Lost Continent.

Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The recurring themes in this issue revolve around unexplained mysteries, ancient civilizations, and alternative theories about history and existence. The magazine presents Bigfoot as a tangible, albeit elusive, entity, and the Blythe Intaglios as a significant archaeological puzzle. The exploration of Atlantis, IERE, and Lykontia suggests a belief in lost, advanced civilizations and a cyclical view of history. The inclusion of astrological content and advertisements for psychic and spiritual services indicates an editorial stance that embraces esoteric subjects, paranormal phenomena, and speculative historical and scientific inquiry. The overall tone is one of curiosity and a willingness to explore unconventional ideas beyond mainstream understanding.
This document appears to be a collection of advertisements and subscription offers from various New Age, esoteric, and paranormal publications and services, rather than a single cohesive magazine issue. The primary "magazine" advertised is "YAHWEH'S MESSAGE," which offers divine messages and monthly issues for $12.00. Other prominent advertisements include "THE SOLAR-SPACE LETTER," "THE NEW ATLANTEAN JOURNAL," and numerous smaller publications and courses.

The recurring themes are overwhelmingly focused on the esoteric, paranormal, and New Age movements. There is a strong emphasis on seeking hidden knowledge, spiritual enlightenment, psychic abilities, and solutions to life's problems through unconventional means. The editorial stance, as suggested by the advertisements and the promotion of "The New Atlantean Journal," is one that challenges conventional understanding and explores the "unknown, the unexplained, and the unexplored." The "Future Destruction" and "Atlantis" theme on the last page suggests a focus on apocalyptic prophecies and lost civilizations.
