Ulizza also recounts a sighting from 1957 where he observed two red-orange dots following the Sputnik rocket carrier. This event, occurring during the dawn of the space age, was confirmed by newspaper reports of thousands witnessing similar objects. He describes the dots as not blinking and following the carrier before disappearing to the north.

Another significant sighting, "Highly Polished Silver Disk," occurred in the summer of 1969. While visiting a friend in Chesterland, Ohio, Ulizza saw a silver disk with a shallow dome, estimated to be 45 feet in diameter and 8-10 feet thick, flying at an estimated speed of a couple of thousand miles an hour at an altitude of 200-250 feet. This close encounter, witnessed by only Ulizza, solidified his belief in flying saucers.

In the "Shiny Silver Orb" sighting, dated between 1998 and 2000, Ulizza and his neighbor were discussing UFO encounters when a shiny golden/silver orb, about three feet in diameter, flew overhead at 150 feet altitude at approximately 100 mph.

The final sighting by Ulizza, "Red-orange Disk," occurred on June 30, 2007. He described a disk the size of a penny at arm's length, which flew from north to south at a 45-degree elevation and lasted only a few seconds.

Ulizza reflects on his experiences, noting that three out of his five major events were close encounters and questioning how much more might have been missed by not looking up.

Thirty Years Ago - 1978

This section, written by Rick Hilberg, compiles several UFO reports from 1978:

• Sparta, Illinois (February 13th): Mr. and Mrs. Steve Patton reported a huge orange light, comparable to a two-story house on fire, that pulsed and had large lights on each side. They observed it from 5:00 AM to 6:30 AM, noting a red object descending and three white lights descending at different times. The object hovered and moved around the area.
• Gillett, Wisconsin (March 3rd): Edward and Mrs. Erickson reported a stationary group of blinking red and green lights at treetop level. The lights went out, and the object took off in a wide circle, later showing a rotating white light at about two thousand feet. David Cullen, a neighbor, also saw the object.
• Syracuse, New York area (April 4th): The Dennis Kiteveles family reported an oval-shaped object with red, blue, yellow, and green lights. This sighting coincided with a brief power outage and a mysterious radar blip. Subsequent reports from the area described varied shapes, including boat-shaped and diamond-shaped objects.
• Linden, California (June 6th): Janet Calle and Ken Snyder reported seeing the same UFO. Calle described it as over one hundred feet long, pinkish-orange, saucer-shaped with a bell-like top, three white lights, and one large red light, emitting a sound like an electric fan. Snyder's account matched Calle's.
• Fort Clayton, Panama (June 17th): Linda Arosemena, a professional photographer, took a picture of President Carter's helicopter, which, upon development, revealed an oval-shaped UFO nearby. No one reported seeing the object at the time, and it did not appear on radar screens.
• Richland County, Ohio (June 28th): Fourteen residents reported a bright yellow light hovering for about thirty minutes before dropping below the skyline and then rising again. Officials at Mansfield Airport could not explain it.
• Mohican State Park area, Ohio: Reports of a seven to nine foot tall creature called "Bighead," with red bulging eyes and a head as wide as a tractor tire, were being investigated. This creature was reportedly seen in the woods near Butler, Ohio.
• Lyndhurst, Ohio (July 18th): Mr. and Mrs. Milton Guth and their children saw a huge oval lighted object with bright white and red lights and a blue flicker. The object paused over a neighbor's house, spinning rapidly before disappearing.
• Westlake, Ohio (August 23rd): A young woman reported a huge boomerang-shaped object with four white lights on its underside and a possible opening or "door." The object was stationary.

Chile: Winged Creature in Angol

Edited by Scott Corrales, this section details an encounter by Oscar Solar Valdebenito, a sergeant in Angol, Chile, on April 28, 2000. Valdebenito observed a creature approximately 1.20 meters tall, with a small head, two medium-sized ears, and two long wings. The creature, described as having velvety, dark grey or black skin, landed on a metal pole. It pounced on dogs, causing them to flee, and was witnessed by several youths. The creature landed on the ground, leaving three thin holes in the dirt, which were later erased. The witness described hearing a sharp squawk upon its landing.

Confirmation That J. Allen Hynek Communicated with Neil Armstrong

By William E. Jones, this article discusses a story about a meeting between Leonard Stringfield, J. Allen Hynek, and Neil Armstrong. Stringfield, a researcher specializing in crash retrieval of UFOs, allegedly met with Hynek and Armstrong, who attempted to convince him to place informant identities in a bank lock box. Stringfield refused to protect his informants. The article also references a letter between Hynek and Armstrong, purchased by a collector, which suggests they corresponded. The author notes that Neil Armstrong has never publicly indicated an interest in UFOs, making this potential involvement significant.

UFO Sighting in Perry County, Ohio

Investigator Frank J. Reams reports on a sighting by Michael Summers on June 30, 2005. Summers observed an object resembling a blimp but without airfoils or a gondola. It moved erratically, as if having trouble staying level. The object was cigar-shaped, with no visible windows or lights, and moved at about 10 mph. The witness later saw white utility trucks with "CC" on their doors, possibly searching for the object.

More Huge Flying Creature Sightings in Pennsylvania

• West Virginia (Late September or Early October 2007): A man reported a close observation of a giant bird, about four feet tall, with a long neck and large beak, feeding on road kill. The wingspan was as wide as the road.
• Pennsylvania (May 20, 2008): Jim Brown, a paranormal researcher, investigated a case where a witness saw a giant winged something, described as a giant bat, gliding overhead. The object moved in the direction of the witness's car and appeared to be getting lower.

Other Sightings and Reports

• Pennsylvania (June or July 2007): Rick Fisher received a report of a dark shadow creature, 3-4 feet tall and hunched, with wings but no feathers, observed near Granite Run.
• Pennsylvania (February 23, 2008): Rick Fisher received a report of a huge bird-like thing that hovered above a vehicle, casting a shadow that covered the entire truck. The witness described it as "like prehistoric almost."

This section details a sighting by an anonymous female witness who was driving on Old Tarlton Pike around 11:30 pm. She first noticed what appeared to be headlights in the fog, which she initially thought was an object about to land. The object stopped in mid-air. As she turned onto Morris-Leist, the object followed her, mirroring her movements. Upon rolling down her car window, she observed a triangular shaped object with pink and blue lights. She estimated its size to be twice the width of a mid-size car and one and a half times its length. The object made no sound, and its underside resembled the underside of a car. It was approximately 60 feet above her. The object then hovered in front of her house and slowly moved towards a two-story house across the road, barely over the trees, before turning west.

Separately, a witness described seeing a large flying animal with dark hair and membrane wings that appeared to be stretched over bone. The wings were not solid like metal, and a small amount of light could be seen through them. The creature dropped lower, and other motorists reportedly also saw it. One person got out of their car with a camera and took pictures. The creature glided down to about 20 feet above the road, flapping its wings once or twice. Each flap caused it to rise about 20 feet higher. Its wingspan extended beyond the road's pavement, estimated to be about 20 feet or more in length. The creature then flew west and was lost from sight over the trees. The man with the camera was seen running into the woods. The witness expressed concern about being attacked, noting the creature was large enough to pick up a man. No sounds or other effects were reported. The observation lasted about 45 seconds to one minute. Stan Gordon of the PA UFO Hotline is seeking contact from the photographer and anyone else who has had similar encounters.

Investigators commented that the two headlights initially suggested an aircraft, but the subsequent maneuvering was unusual. The object was in view for 3 to 11 minutes. They rated the sighting as unknown and of ordinary significance.

NASA Is Sponsoring a University Course on How to Talk to Aliens

English students at the University of Wyoming are taking a creative writing class called "Interstellar Message Composition." The course, partly financed by NASA's Wyoming Space Grant Consortium, aims to prepare students for potential contact with aliens by considering how to communicate with them. Professor Jeffrey Lockwood, the course leader, stated that while much thought has gone into communicating with other worlds, less has been given to what would actually be said. The class tackles questions about how aliens might communicate, their ability to translate human language, and their sensory perception. One student, Dixie Thoman, created a poem using the Fibonacci sequence. Recordings of the Brandenburg Concerto and "Johnny B Goode" have been sent into space as attempts to elicit a response. Douglas Vakoch, director of interstellar message composition for the Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute, advises the course. He emphasizes the critical need for people to start thinking about how to respond to potential alien contact.

SECRET PLANES BURIED AT AREA 51

This article alleges that secret aircraft, including those that crashed or were experimental failures, are buried at Groom Lake, near Area 51. These "graves" are described as being as large as football fields and deep enough to bury aeroplanes. There are no markers. According to a former Groom Lake worker speaking anonymously, classified planes were kept in a "Scoot-N-hide" shed off a taxiway. They were then put on a flatbed truck, taken to a hole, and pulled off the truck with a cable, shattering like an egg before being buried.
