Directors Message

Peter R. Geremia, the Director, announces the first state meeting of the year for New Hampshire MUFON, to be held at the Manchester Public Library on Saturday, February 17th, at 1:00 PM. He urges everyone to attend and emphasizes the importance of their input, highlighting several exciting projects under development. Geremia notes that the 'Activity Log' on page two shows continued sightings and mentions several cases in progress, including investigations into strange marks melted in snow and probable abductions. A significant development is the potential uncovering of a correlation between a specific piece of medical equipment used in separate abduction cases. Briefings will be provided to update attendees, and a surprise is hinted at. Members are encouraged to plan to attend and invite friends.

Ballot Result

The newsletter reports the outcome of a ballot requesting a $5.00 surcharge per year to help finance the Newsletter. The vote was almost unanimous in favor, with only one opposed. Checks payable to New Hampshire MUFON are gratefully accepted at their P.O. Box in Rye.

Request

Mr. Edward Sanborn, the Massachusetts MUFON State Director, has expressed a desire to correspond with members of NH MUFON. Members interested in contacting him can write to him at 175 Cross St., Lowell, MA 01854.

Activity Log (Page 2)

The second page of the newsletter contains an 'Activity Log' detailing UFO sightings from August 26, 1989, to January 2, 1990. The entries include date, time, class (e.g., CE I), place, number of witnesses, and a description:

• August 26, 1989, 10:00 PM, Portland, ME: Radar (Pease AFB and Portland Approach) tracked an unknown target. A UFO was observed over Portland Airport. A private pilot was vectored to the target, and authorities debriefed the pilot. FAA audio tape of controller conversations was obtained via a freedom of information request.
• September 21, 1989, 9:00 PM, Madbury: A curved string of white lights hovered over a field with horizontal beams of light. (1 witness).
• September 24, 1989, 9:30 PM, Derry: Many white lights were observed on an object hovering near a landfill area. (2 witnesses).
• September 29, 1989, 2:45 AM, Northwood: A white light responded to flashing of a light. Red and green lights were also observed, possibly an aircraft. (1 witness).
• October 11, 1989, 7:00 PM, Sunapee: A 'V' formation of white lights appeared. One light on the end blinked, and the lights split apart and maneuvered over Sunapee Lake. (2 witnesses).
• October 13, 1989, Peterborough: A white ball was seen in the sky for twenty minutes, possibly a Venus sighting. (2 witnesses).
• October 13, 1989, 10:00 PM, Londonderry: A bright light was observed in the southern sky, drawing the subject's attention, possibly a Venus sighting. (2 witnesses).
• October 14, 1989, 5:05 PM, Litchfield: Several black objects of various shapes and sizes were seen in the sky, along with other black spots. The objects moved slowly toward the south. (2+ witnesses).
• October 25, 1989, 7:30 PM, Chester, VT: A 'V' formation of white lights was observed moving toward the East. (1 witness).
• November 1, 1989, 8:30 PM, Sunapee: Two 'V' formations of white lights were seen, one at high altitude and the other low. Jet aircraft were present in the area. (2 witnesses).
• December 21, 1989, 7:00 PM, Chester, VT: Three white lights were observed at low altitude, moving slowly. Two of the lights were close together. (2 witnesses).
• January 2, 1990, 10:15 PM, Effingham: Two white lights were seen at tree-top level. They hovered, moved independently, and slowly. The phenomenon was described as possibly TV static. (1 witness).

Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
