Magazine Overview

This issue of the Missouri MUFON Newsletter, Volume II, Issue 2, dated Spring 2013, is a quarterly publication from the Mutual UFO Network's Missouri chapter. It is free to MUFON members and not part of the international subscription. The newsletter covers a range of topics including a significant Bigfoot and UFO sighting, scientific explanations for paranormal phenomena, and upcoming MUFON events.

Extraordinary Bigfoot and UFO Sighting in Rural Western Missouri

The lead article, by Margie Kay, details an extraordinary encounter experienced by Daniel Lile, a deer hunter in the Four Rivers Conservation Area near Rich Hill, Missouri, on December 2, 2012. Lile spotted a tall, brown-haired creature with a red tint, a large upper body, wide shoulders, and a conical head, walking upright and foraging. He described it as unlike any known animal, noting its brown hair with a red tint and its distinct conical head shape. The creature walked on two feet and moved with large strides before disappearing over a hill. Lile's brother, who was hunting nearby, did not witness the event.

Upon returning home, Lile informed his parents, leading his father, Brian Lile, to contact his Missouri Ghost Hunters Society (MGHS) partner, Don Overton. Three days later, on December 5, 2012, Don Overton, Brian Lile, his wife, and their two sons returned to the sighting location to investigate and document any evidence. The investigation team found several piles of fawn bones in different locations, with 10-12 fawn remains in each pile, which the experienced hunters found highly unusual. They also measured a tree where the Bigfoot had passed, indicating the creature was approximately eight feet tall. The team conducted EMF readings and magnetic anomaly tests but found nothing unusual. They set up two high-end night vision video cameras.

During their investigation, the team heard loud screams from the woods, which they believed to be two Bigfoot communicating. Later, a large bright light appeared in the sky, moving slowly and then stopping, followed by more lights that blinked on and off in a pattern resembling triangles in a circle. These lights were visible to the naked eye and more so with night vision cameras. The objects were described as tiny, up to the size of a softball, and moved erratically, disappearing and reappearing quickly. They were seen at various heights, from ground level to above the tree line. The lights were bright white with a blue tinge. The team also heard coyotes and "thumping" footsteps in the forest but no other animal sounds. Due to the cold, they left at approximately 10:00 p.m. One camera captured 40 minutes of footage of the orbs.

Margie Kay contacted the Missouri Department of Conservation regarding the fawn bones, and was told it was not a known behavior of local animals. She also inquired about bears in the area and was informed there were none north of I-44 in South Missouri. The Department had no reports of Bigfoot sightings. Research on Bigfoot websites revealed numerous reports in Missouri, with 102 reports on www.bfro.net and others found through radio programs. Sightings were also reported in Swope Park, Kansas City, and Holt, Missouri. The newsletter notes that some Bigfoot witnesses have reported seeing UFOs or alien entities, raising the question of a connection between Bigfoot and UFOs. The credibility of Don Overton and Brian Lile, a former Federal Police Officer, is highlighted, suggesting the account is unlikely to be a hoax.

INFRARED: A POTENTIAL REAL LIFE “PHANTOM ZONE”

This article by Joe Palermo, Paranomologist, explores the nature of infrared (IR) light and its potential connection to paranormal phenomena. Palermo explains that IR light is electromagnetic radiation with longer wavelengths than visible light, extending from 0.74 to 300 micrometers. It is emitted by objects near room temperature and is crucial for Earth's climate. The article references Wikipedia's definition of IR light and its properties.

Palermo posits that "spirit" and "orb" pictures, often captured by consumer digital cameras, might be due to the inherent sensitivity of their imaging chips to the infrared spectrum. He discusses how IR light is emitted or absorbed by molecules when they change their rotational-vibrational movements. This leads to speculation about how a conscious entity, or a "disembodied spirit" or "ghost," might manipulate molecules to create a memory pattern that emits infrared light, which could then be photographed.

The article delves into the concept of consciousness and its relationship to emotion and physical manifestation. It references the theory of "law of mind action" and the idea that emotions, as a function of consciousness, can influence molecules to cause materialization, potentially visible in the infrared spectrum. This is further linked to poltergeist activity, which is described as the apparent manifestation of an imperceptible entity causing noises, destruction, and physical interactions. Nandor Fodor's theory that poltergeist disturbances are caused by human agents suffering from emotional stress is mentioned, as is William G. Roll's study suggesting recurrent neuronal discharges might cause spontaneous psychokinesis (RSPK).

Palermo connects these ideas to the possibility that heightened emotions, particularly during seances, could feed emotional content, causing molecular effects that can be photographed. He also notes that images resembling "grey aliens" are being captured by infrared cameras, citing an example from Missouri. The article concludes by suggesting that these beings, due to their consciousness, might exist in a plane of infrared frequency.

From the State Director

Debbie Ziegelmeyer, Missouri MUFON State Director, reports that as of the end of March 2013, there have been 18 reported sightings in Missouri, which is on pace with the increased activity seen in 2011. She notes that asteroid, meteor, and comet activity has increased in 2013, citing a near miss with a 17,200-mile asteroid (2012 DA14) and a meteor event in Russia that injured 1100 people on February 15th. Ziegelmeyer mentions that Margie Kay had predicted the Russian meteor impact during a Skype presentation. The comet 2013 Pan-STARRS is also visible to the naked eye until March 16th. She advises readers to use asteroid and celestial apps on their smartphones for tracking such events.

The St. Louis area MUFON meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20th, at Culpepper's Restaurant, featuring Chief Investigator Joe Palermo as the guest speaker. Palermo, with over 35 years of experience in UFO/Paranormal investigation, will discuss an ongoing investigation and a documentary he is producing. Meetings are free and open to the public. Ziegelmeyer also provides her updated email address: [email protected].

K.C.'s Open Mic Night a Huge Success

Margie Kay reports on the Kansas City MUFON group's successful "Open Mic Night" on March 11th. Attendees were invited to share their own UFO sightings and encounters. A local witness shared ongoing sightings from Independence, Missouri, and displayed photos on a blog. Other stories included an ex-Merchant Marine who saw a "flying city" and an ex-truck driver who experienced a complete blackout of his truck lights and console while driving. The event highlighted the importance of groups like MUFON in seeking answers.
