NASA News

A section titled "NASA News" reports on multi-colored artificial clouds that were to be visible at dawn along the east coast, from Montreal to Jacksonville and as far west as Ohio, between May 5 and May 20, 1986. These colorful releases were expected to appear as a deep blue ball, visible for about 15 minutes before dispersing. The scientific missions are part of the overall NASA Sounding Rocket Program managed at Wallops Island, Virginia.

Movie

This section highlights a new low-budget docudrama produced by New World Pictures about the "Aurora, Texas Airship hoax." The movie covers an alleged airship crash on April 17, 1897, and the subsequent burial of an entity in Aurora, Texas. The case was previously investigated by the Condon Committee in 1966.

Radio-TV Log

It is reported that Phil Klass and Bruce Maccabbee participated in a debate on the CNN program "Take II" on April 7, 1986. The debate involved calls from viewers and a presentation of each participant's views. Merlyn Sheehan of Massachusetts MUFON has this program on videotape.

New Books

• Several new book titles are recommended:

CAUS Information

• This section, from CAUS (presumably another organization), details their "CAUS EXCHANGES" initiative. They are exchanging publications with UFO-logists in other countries to track government UFO secrecy. They have received information from England and Italy and plan to include articles from overseas supporters in "JUST CAUSE." The current exchange list includes publications from:

Michigan State University Symposium

This section announces that several MUFON members have been selected to represent Mass. MUFON at the 1986 Symposium at Michigan State University. These members include Joseph Nyman, Joseph and Diane Santangelo, Diana Desimone, Marge Christensen (keynote speaker), and James Melesciuc.

Journal Article

Dick Hall has submitted a chronology of the 1952 radar/visual sightings over Washington, D.C. This is a complete listing of the 25 sightings that occurred between July 13 and July 29, 1952, and is expected to appear in an upcoming Journal.

Assistance Needed

Barry Greenwood is seeking UFO material from TV shows, newsreels, and talk shows that appeared before 1975. Readers are asked to contact Barry if they know where such material can be located.

Another historical note mentions that in 1983, crewmen of the shuttle Challenger performed a spacewalk, the first by U.S. astronauts in nine years.
