MUFON UFO SYMPOSIUM

The 15th annual MUFON UFO Symposium is scheduled for July 6-8 at the Holiday Inn North-Airport Area in San Antonio, Texas. The theme is 'Extraterrestrial Intelligence: A Public Forum.' Several speakers are listed with their topics:

• Dr. J. Allen Hynek: 'Properties of the UFO Phenomenon.'
• Barry J. Greenwood: 'UFO Secrecy '84 -- Big Brother is Watching Them.'
• John F. Schuessler: 'Cash-Landrum Case: Speculation About the Medical Effects.'

• Budd Hopkins: 'The Haunting of Kitley Woods -- An Ongoing UFO Saga.'

• Thomas R. Adama: 'Animal Mutilations: A Decade of Mystery.'

UFO forum

The 'UFO Forum' is planned for Sunday, August 12, 1984. Flyers are available and will be distributed to members. The event has received enthusiastic responses, and Bob Girard of Arcturus Book Service plans to attend. A special membership meeting will be held on June 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Church in Belmont to enlist volunteers. Members are encouraged to attend and bring at least two guests.

News Briefs

REPEAT OF '75?

During late February and continuing into April, UFOs were reportedly sighted over Brunswick Naval Air Station in Maine and bases in North Dakota. Several FOIA requests have been filed by CAUS regarding these sightings.

ADDITIONAL BENTWATERS WITNESS FOUND

An additional witness to the Bentwaters/Woodbridge incident, who was stationed there during the time of the 'Halt Memo,' has been located. This witness has confirmed details of 'Art Wallace's' story and provided additional information. The witness's identity and whereabouts are being kept confidential to protect the ongoing investigation.

UFO BUMPER STICKER CONTEST HELD

A contest for a slogan for UFO bumper stickers was recently held by Marge Christensen. The slogan selected by the greatest number of State Directors is: 'UFOS ARE REAL -- ASK OUR GOVERNMENT.' These stickers will be on sale at the 1984 Symposium and the August UFO Forum. Profits will fund the monthly National MUFON Newsletter.

FIELD INVESTIGATOR TRAINING SESSION PLANNED

A training session for new field investigator trainees is planned for the June meeting, after the refreshment break. Attendees should have a MUFON Field Investigator's Manual, which can be obtained from MUFON Hdqtrs. in Seguin, TX, for $7.50.

CLEAR INTENT - Update

Prentice-Hall has announced that the book 'Clear Intent,' by Barry J. Greenwood and Lawrence Fawcett, will be in warehouses on June 15 and in bookstores on June 30. The publisher reports unprecedented interest. Fred Whiting of the Fund for UFO Research calls it 'the best-written UFO book ever published.' Attorney Bob Bletchman also reviewed it positively for the MUFON Journal. The Fund for UFO Research is supporting the book and is working with Prentice-Hall to hold a press conference on July 15 at the Pentagon bookstore in Washington, D.C., with authors present. A package deal for $20, including the book and supporting documents, will be offered. The authors are scheduled for a national publicity tour in July, with appearances on 'Good Morning, America,' 'The Merv Griffin Show,' and other programs in New York, Washington D.C., and California. Mass. MUFON salutes Barry Greenwood for his contribution to the serious scientific acceptance of the UFO subject.

NEW BOOK OFFERED BY CONGRESSIONAL RESEARCH SERVICE

A revised edition of 'The UFO Enigma' by Marcia Smith is being offered free of charge by the Congressional Research Service. It can be obtained by writing to your U.S. Congressman and requesting Report 83-205SPR.

UFO DISPLAY COMPLETED

The Mass. MUFON UFO Display, consisting of four 3'x4' panels with materials on both sides, is complete. It covers topics such as types of sightings, Mass. MUFON, UFO photos, Government Documents, UFO History, Investigative Forms, and Close Encounters. It will be exhibited at the August Forum, and color slides may be shown at the May or June meetings.
