Magazine Overview

Title: BREVCIRKELN
Issue: 28
Volume: MB
Date: April 1966

This issue of Brevcirkeln, a Swedish membership journal, focuses on spiritual and experimental topics, featuring articles on Agni Yoga and a detailed account of an electroculture gardening experiment.

Agni Yoga Course and Book

The issue announces a new book form of 'Agni Yoga eller Eldens Yoga' by Elisabeth Lansenor, stemming from her 1964-65 course. The book is described as significantly expanded, particularly the section on lower nature realms, and includes three special articles on the role of Lucifer in our world's development. The book is recommended for those seeking insight into the cosmic order and the future of humanity. It can be ordered directly from Fru Elisabeth Ståhlgren in Bromma for 11:50 SEK plus postage.

Book Ordering Service: Edista

Bertil Kuhlemann offers Brevcirkeln participants access to literature through Edista, a mail-order bookstore specializing in New Age literature. Edista stocks approximately 2,000 titles, primarily in English, but also in German and Swedish, with around 200 titles held in stock. Customers are encouraged to provide detailed information about their interests and desired books, including title, author, publisher, and year of publication. Exchange rates for foreign books are provided: 1 US Dollar = 6:00 SEK, 1 DM = 1:50 SEK, and 1 Shilling = 0:80 SEK. These rates include a 10% general sales tax, with postage charged separately. Edista also aims to source rare, antique, and out-of-print books through international contacts. Delivery times for non-stocked items can range from two to eight weeks. Orders and inquiries can be sent to Edista, Kuhlemann & Co, Box 45, Roslags Näsby.

Electroculture Experiment: Home Gardening

E.L. Jackson shares his successful experiments with electroculture in his garden, building upon information received in early 1956 from The International Research Laboratories. His setup involved two poles, approximately 18 feet high, placed at the north and south ends of a garden plot. A four-band TV antenna was mounted on the north pole, oriented north-south. A 600-foot long, 12-gauge galvanized wire was connected to the 4-foot band of the antenna, run along the ground 19 inches deep in alternating north-south furrows, and then connected back up to the south pole. The wire was then routed back up to the north pole's antenna, completing a circuit.

Corn and wax beans were planted in rows above the buried wire. The seeds received a one-minute shock treatment before planting. Within seven days, the corn grew to one inch above ground, and the wax beans were approximately the same size. For comparison, corn and wax beans planted immediately east of the wired area took 13 days to reach ground level. A similar sowing west of the wired area (but without the wire) showed similar results to the control area, suggesting a directional effect or 'aura' from the wires on the west side.

Jackson observed that all corn and wax beans within the wired area and on the west 'aura' side bent towards the west, while those in the east control area grew straight up. The harvest was described as fantastic, yielding two to two and a half times more than the east area. Full maturity was reached in 78 days, compared to 105 days for the east area.

Wax beans also produced an abundant harvest, maturing at the same time as those in the east area began to flower. Onions planted over the wires also bent westwards, prompting speculation about experimental explanations. Tomatoes of the 'Pearson' variety did poorly due to mold, but 'Beefsteak' tomatoes yielded better results. Despite five severe frost periods before December 25th, grapevines planted over the wires remained largely green, while those outside the wired area withered after the first frost, indicating the system's frost-protective capabilities.

Further Information and Contacts

The article notes that Mr. Jackson's location in the USA is not specified, but the piece is reprinted from a note in 'Organic Gardening & Farming' (June 1957), with permission from The American Electroculture Research Association, whose president is Dr. Albert J. Molyneux of Tenafly, New Jersey.

Technical specifications for the wire used (No. 12, 2.642 mm Ø, equivalent to 1.W.G.) and conversion factors for measurements (inches to mm, feet to meters) are also included.

Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance

This issue reflects Brevcirkeln's focus on esoteric knowledge (Agni Yoga), alternative lifestyles (book recommendations for New Age literature), and experimental science (electroculture). The editorial stance appears to be one of open inquiry, encouraging members to experiment and share their findings, as seen in the call for readers to report on their own gardening attempts. There is a clear interest in phenomena that go beyond conventional understanding, such as 'auras' and enhanced plant growth through unconventional means.
