This issue, titled 'Den nya inkarnatiónen.' (The New Incarnation), is Lesson 11 in a series and focuses on the preparations for a re-incarnating soul to receive its new physical body. It explores the spiritual and physical processes involved in reincarnation, drawing from esoteric teachings.
Preparations for Receiving the Re-incarnating Soul
The text explains that while parents provide the physical material for a child, the incarnating soul actively seeks parents with similar characteristics. This is crucial for the development of a viable child, as the vibrations must align. Beyond genetics, the spiritual bodies of the parents, particularly their mental bodies, contain qualities that surround all life. The soul seeks to match these qualities.
Kundalini is described as the link between the human being and Earth's energy lines. The developing mother draws power from these Earth currents to create the child's new physical form. As the child grows, the parents' spiritual bodies also develop, but only up to the mental body. The child, however, becomes a completely independent being, with its own 'I' (Jaget) originating from the incarnating soul, not inherited from the parents' consciousness.
During the nine months of gestation, the soul prepares to inhabit its new body. This preparation begins at conception, with the re-incarnating soul taking nine months to fully occupy its new physical form.
Preparations from the Spirit World
When conception occurs, the re-incarnating soul begins its journey from the spirit world. The soul's 'human 'I'' (mänskliga Jaget) returns to earthly life unchanged, intact from one incarnation to the next. The other spiritual bodies have dissolved and returned to their respective worlds, with their qualities transferred to 'seed atoms' (fröatomen).
Starting from the mental body, the returning soul gathers substance from the surrounding mental world to form its new mental body. This process is likened to iron filings gathering around a magnet. The soul then proceeds to the astral world, repeating the process to form the astral body, and then to the etheric world, gathering material corresponding to the qualities hidden in the seed atoms. Once the etheric body is formed, the soul prepares to inhabit its new physical form, hovering around and permeating the mother's body and the developing child, awaiting its moment.
*A note clarifies that 'start' does not imply movement in a direction, as spiritual bodies are free from the concept of space, and spiritual worlds interpenetrate.
How Re-remembering Works
During its time in the spiritual worlds, the deceased retains memories of their last earthly life, which eventually fade into the seed atoms. Forgetting occurs when the seed atom separates, which happens when the soul is ready to move to the next world or before preparing for re-incarnation. However, the consciousness of the 'I' (Jaget) remains.
During this period of forgetting, memories can temporarily surface during encounters with different energy currents related to development. These encounters can create a strong sense of déjà vu, where events seem to have been experienced before. This is not a literal re-experiencing but a pre-arranged preparation and recording within these energy lines.
The great re-remembering occurs upon returning for a new incarnation. Each world visited on the way provides memories of the previous earthly existence. These memories persist through the passage to subsequent worlds as the previously closed seed atoms open during the creation of new bodies. The best way to benefit from these experiences is to concentrate one's will on not repeating past mistakes.
It is only when clothed in a physical body that one can truly realize these intentions. While forgetting has occurred due to the lowering of vibrations, the decisions made are stored in the subconscious, which represents the accumulated experiences of the higher bodies. By heeding the whispers of the subconscious, which is referred to as the voice of conscience, one can improve their new existence.
The text interprets the biblical concept of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit as refusing to listen to the inner voice until it falls silent. The Holy Spirit is the cosmic creative force, corresponding to the 'I' or conscience within us. The unforgivable nature of this 'sin' means that such neglect cannot be rectified without suffering the consequences until understanding and a loving action towards truth are achieved. The task is to act rightly without necessarily knowing why. Those who choose good for its own sake have progressed significantly.
There is a significant difference between improving one's conditions in the next life while in a physical body and doing so without it. If, while alive, one firmly decides not to repeat past mistakes in the next life, this decision is channeled through kundalini into Earth's energy lines, from where it is directly transmitted to the physical brain in the next incarnation, enabling right action. Such a resolution is particularly valuable near the end of life when opportunities for improvement in the current life have passed. If the decision is made without connection to the energy currents that provide re-remembering, relying solely on the conscience to be heard, the prospects for progress are diminished. Therefore, the foundation for all progress is laid in the physical world.
*A classification of human races based on their motives for good deeds is provided:
1. The human is influenced unconsciously from outside.
2. Obeys orders as they are given.
3. Listens to hearsay.
4. Fears punishment and obeys God out of fear.
5. Sees God as the giver of all good, sacrificing out of greed for reward.
6. Worships with prayer.
7. Thinks independently but obeys God out of fear of punishment.
8. Acts rightly without thought of reward.
Preparatory Work in Childhood
In the previous lesson, it was discussed how the re-incarnating soul permeates the mother's body with the developing child, awaiting the moment to inhabit it. A distinction is made between 'permeating a body' and 'taking possession.' The new life permeates the body of its future owner, but possession occurs gradually.
During the period before possession, the spiritual counterparts of the parents are utilized. In the early years of childhood, the child is one with its parents' bodies and souls. The child identifies with their father or mother, depending on which parent's spiritual qualities are dominant and the environmental influences. Lacking self-awareness ('Jagmedvetande'), young children often refer to themselves by name, viewing themselves objectively.
Gradually, the parents' qualities are superseded, and the individual becomes distinct. This depends on the strength of the 'I' (Jaget) in overcoming inherited traits and developing a self-sufficient 'I.' A child with a strong will can more quickly shed the spiritual qualities of the parents, especially if they differ from the child's own inclinations. Thus, the similarity in spiritual aspects is greatest in the early years.
Inherited negative traits are passed on to a significant degree, particularly when the incarnating soul joins with parents of low quality, who themselves may not be strong enough to assert their will to eliminate inherited flaws. This suggests the incarnating soul may also carry certain predispositions.
When the child becomes aware of pleasure and displeasure, joy and sorrow, they have learned to know the two opposites that belong to the first plane of experience. As the struggle against what causes discomfort begins, the new individual understands that life will present both good and evil. This is the first receptivity of the mind to the Luciferic force, which still dominates our plane of development.
The child carries karma from past lives that still needs to be worked out. The environment presents new choices: will the individual increase their existing karma or strive to work off the old and avoid the burden of new karma? The choice is theirs, but they do not know the goal of making the right choice, which is part of the trials of life.
Why We Forget Everything Upon Entering Earthly Life
The question arises as to why humans are overcome by forgetfulness upon entering the physical body. This rule applies to all on the first plane and is related to the experiences we are meant to have there. Our task is given by higher powers who have planned everything in love and wisdom. It is crucial that the choice between right and right stems from our inner will, and it is of eternal value for humanity to succeed in making the right choice. Many other planets at our level have open doors to other worlds, and their humanity is taught by wise beings on higher planes. Our planet has been closed off for reasons that will be understood one day.
However, this opening has cautiously begun in recent decades. The authorities' treatment of visitors from other worlds who come to assist us indicates how deeply we have fallen into darkness and ignorance.
Human 7-Year Periods
Life on Earth is divided into 7-year periods. During the first period, the etheric body develops and merges with its physical covering. However, the other bodies are not inactive. According to the principle that everything permeates everything, the higher bodies also work within their respective areas to become one with the physical body. The first 7-year period marks the entry into matter, where the individual learns about organic life and orientation in the new existence.
At 7 years of age, the child is ready to acquire book knowledge, which will bring them to the level of the civilized world. During this time, the emotional development is worked out to manifest the mature emotional life at puberty. Mental development occurs during early adolescence, and at 21 years, the age of majority is reached, a time of duty fulfillment, completion of military service, etc. At this point, the 'I' (Jaget) is definitively integrated with the other bodies.
This is followed by a threefold 7-year period of higher development, during which the individual moves towards family formation, child-rearing, and the maturation of the 'I.' After this comes a new 7-year period at the peak of life. The subsequent years are a time of deepening understanding, with reflections and future thoughts, and concerns for the continuation of life on the other side for higher development.
The goal is perfection. Our striving is to reach this goal, to be finished with rebirth through earthly lives and ascend to higher realms, where development occurs in worlds free from the burden of cycles.
