Lending Rules (Låne Regler)

The lending rules are clearly laid out on the first page. Key points include:

• Service Availability: The book service is available to participants of the circle and members of MIS (a related organization).
• Loan Period: The maximum loan period is 3 weeks, which includes the time taken for postal transit. Books must be returned by the date stamped on the removable slip within the book.
• Number of Books: A maximum of 2 books can be borrowed per loan.
• Lending Fee: The fee is 1 SEK per borrowed book. This fee is intended to cover not only postage (which typically ranges from 50-90 öre per book) but also costs for packaging, potential repairs, and binding.
• Payment: The lending fee must be paid in stamps along with the request. Thus, 1 SEK in stamps is required per requested book.
• Late Returns: An overdue fine of 25 öre per book per day is charged for exceeding the loan period.
• Book Availability: Brevcirkeln cannot confirm if a book is currently available. If a requested book is not received within a week, it is assumed to be on loan. Orders are processed in the order they are received.
• Shipping Restrictions: Books are sent as printed matter, and the weight must not exceed 1 kg. Consequently, two books might sometimes necessitate two separate shipments.
• Borrower Responsibility: Borrowers are obligated to handle the books with the utmost care. Any book lost, destroyed, or similarly damaged must be replaced by the borrower at its full value.
• Donor Risk: Individuals who voluntarily lend their books to Brevcirkeln do so at their own risk, as some books may be difficult or impossible to replace if lost or damaged.

Abbreviations

Abbreviations preceding book titles indicate the language: D=Danish, E=English, F=French, N=Norwegian, S=Swedish, T=German. For example, S17 denotes a Swedish book, item number 17.

Important Note: When requesting books, it is recommended to include the book title and author, but it is crucial to accurately provide the language abbreviation and item number.
