UFO Over Glenview, Illinois

On May 5, 1963, Dale Rettig, Chairman of the IAPA (a UUA member-group), and other members witnessed a UFO. The object, initially a disc with lights, transformed into a saturn-shaped entity at dusk. A spokesman from the Glenview Naval Air Station confirmed that numerous calls were received from people reporting the object. A jet fighter approached the UFO, but the object dimmed as the sun set, indicating it was solid.

Unidentified Fallen Object in North Vernon, Indiana

On May 8, 1963, the USAF and State Police in North Vernon, Indiana, were faced with a 500 lb. unidentified fallen object. The object was cylindrical, measuring 18 to 24 inches in diameter and 6 to 7 feet in length. It was painted red and white and had been dropped by parachute in a remote area. The object featured devices that appeared to be meters, but lacked any numbering or lettering to indicate its origin.

Strange UFO in New Orleans, Louisiana

On May 7, 1963, residents of New Orleans, Louisiana, observed a peculiar UFO above the city's business district. The object was described as boomerang-shaped and appeared to be made of a flimsy, silk-like material. The U.S. Naval Air Station dispatched planes to investigate. Forecaster E.L. Hill from the U.S. Weather Bureau office reported seeing the object and two smaller "pieces" that detached from it and fell several blocks away.

UFO Congress Proposed for 1964

Allen Greenfield, a regular editor, expressed in a tape recording his opinion that UFOlogy would benefit from a congress involving all scientifically-oriented groups and researchers to address the field's challenges. He suggested this congress be held in Cleveland, Ohio, in the summer of 1964. Further details are expected soon.
