This is the first issue of the KPU Newsletter from 1997, dated January 18, 1996. The KPU (Czech UFO organization) publishes this newsletter to inform its members about activities, upcoming events, and relevant discussions within the fields of UFOlogy, parapsychology, archaeology, and other anomalous phenomena.

KPU - Plzen Meetings

• Regular Wednesday meetings of KPU - Plzen are outlined with specific themes for each week of the month:
• 1st Wednesday: Philosophical and religious questions of anomalous phenomena, magic, and mysticism.
• 2nd Wednesday: Psychotronics and alternative medicine, questions of using psych. methods, spontaneous anomalous phenomena, poltergeists, etc.
• 3rd Wednesday: Archaeoastronautics, problems of history, archaeology, cryptozoology, futurology, etc.
• 4th Wednesday: UFOs, close encounters, questions of extraterrestrial life, astronomical and cosmological problems.

A special event on February 6, 1997, featured a talk by Libuše Imbertová-Nielsen, author of "Parapsychologie".

Upcoming Expeditions and Events

Expedition to Southern England: KPU - Prague is organizing a 14-day expedition to Southern England during the summer school holidays, titled "Following the Footsteps of the Magician Merlin." The trip aims to visit sites with the highest occurrence of crop circles. The estimated cost is under 6000 CZK per person, covering transportation (including the ferry from Ostend to Ramsgate), food (for survival), vehicle rental (Ford Tranzit, 9 seats), and a financial reserve. The estimated cost is around 5,500 CZK. A detailed itinerary is provided, listing numerous locations across England and a return route via France and Belgium. New KPU Publication: KPU Prague is also preparing a new occasional publication for its members, intended as an internal print for subscribers at approximately 40 CZK.

Megaliths in Germany and France: An expedition to study megaliths in Germany and France is planned for the summer.

Research and Investigations

Stipoklasy Case: In response to an article in ZAZ 5/96, the Research Center Statenice provided a reaction. They clarified names and ranks of researchers and submitted samples of dried leaves from crop circles near Borislav (mentioned in ZAZ 4/96). KPU plans to investigate these samples and seeks member participation.

Nemilkov Crop Circle Stones: Three stones from the Nemilkov crop circle (IB 12/96) were subjected to geological examination. The stones showed no signs of unnatural interference, leading to the conclusion that any damage was likely caused by agricultural machinery, as discussed in ZAZ 4/96.

New Sections and Initiatives

Megalith Section in Slaný: A Megalith section was established in Slaný on January 18, 1996. Its concept is largely based on the report in IB 12/96. Members interested in contributing are asked to inform the KPU board.

Specialized Sections: KPU aims to establish specialized sections, including one for dowsing (telesthesia) and a narrowly specialized section for UFO observation.

Member Inquiries and Information Exchange

Australian Series: The editorial team is seeking information about the Australian series "Journey to Health" (Putování za zdravím).

CT Broadcast: A query about CT's filming at the Klobuky menhir last autumn is answered: it was a music video clip.

Slanská Observatory: KPU does not officially cooperate with the Slanská observatory. Members with contacts there are encouraged to foster informal cooperation, as these informal relationships are deemed more viable and useful.

International Contacts: Thanks are given to Petr M. for letters from Roswell. Members maintaining contact with foreign clubs and societies are asked to inform them about KPU and provide information leaflets in English if needed.

Polish UFO Club: KPU is seeking someone who can translate materials from Polish and maintain correspondence with the Polish UFO club in Legnica (in English). The Polish club is interested in explanations for UFO sightings in their region, specifically inquiring about a laser device in Hrachov that might explain these observations. Members from Trutnov and Semily districts are asked if they know of such a device.

Foreign Magazines: A request is made for members who have foreign magazines on anomalous phenomena from Germany and Austria to provide copies for the KPU archive.

CUFOS Contact: Contact has been established with the organization CUFOS, founded by J. A. Hynek. Members who wish to contribute to purchasing their "Journal of UFO Studies" (18 USD + postage) can do so; KPU would accept photocopies of the original journal.

Online Discussions: The server http://www.capitol.cz, under the "sensations" rubric, hosts discussions on anomalous phenomena.

Book Reissue: The Czech Psychotronic Society has reissued Fr. Makone's book "How to Follow Christ." Interested individuals are urged to respond quickly due to high demand. The price is 140 CZK + postage.

Telepathy Experiments: The KPU - Phenomenon section is preparing a new phase of telepathy experiments. Serious participants are invited to join.

Coordinator Role: With the increase in members, the need for coordinators in each district is highlighted to facilitate contact between new members and the KPU board. Volunteers are requested.

ZAZ Magazine

The latest issue of ZAZ is out. Contents include "Prerequisites for UFO Observation," "On the Path of the Radiant Apollo," "Megaliths Preceded by Totems?" articles on the relationship between doctors and healers, "What About Pyramid Energy?", further excerpts from Z. Sitchin's "The Twelfth Planet," discussion on the Cheb underground, findings in sensitive archaeology, and information about a mysterious cross found in a Plzen store. Information on subscribing to the 1996 or 1997 volume of ZAZ is available (80 CZK per year).
