Magazine Overview

Title: IUFOPRA NEWSLETTER
Issue Date: March, 1994
Publisher: IUFOPRA
Country: Ireland
Language: English

This is the first issue of a new monthly newsletter from IUFOPRA (The Irish UFO and Paranormal Research Association). Its purpose is to keep members informed of events within the organization and to bridge the gap between the three-monthly issues of the IUFOPRA Journal.

New Faces and Committee Appointments

The newsletter proudly announces new additions to the IUFOPRA Executive Council. Miss Jenny Randles, a world-renowned ufologist and author, has been appointed Director and Director of Investigations. Aongus De Barra, a computer expert, joins the committee as Assist. PRO, working with Karl Morris. Tom Gardiner has also joined the committee to serve as the Astro Advisor.

Committee Vacancies

There are two vacancies on the Committee. Applicants must be dedicated to IUFOPRA's aims, capable of conducting committee meetings if necessary, and able to deliver lectures to outside organizations. Applications are open to both male and female members and must be submitted by May 15th, 1994, to the PO Box address provided.

Apology for Journal Delay

An apology is extended for the late publication of the Fourth Journal. This delay is attributed to the organization's transition from BUFORA HQRS in England to its new identity as IUFOPRA, an all-Irish organization. The Fourth issue is scheduled to be sent to members in the last week of April 1994.

Journal Issue Schedule

Members are informed that the IUFOPRA Journal is published three times a year, with each issue covering specific months:

  • Issue One: January to April
  • Issue Two: May to August
  • Issue Three: September to December

Members are advised not to phone regarding the status of issues, as they will be posted to paid-up members within the covering period at the discretion of the Director.

Sky TV Channel

A new drama program called "X-FILES" is mentioned, which is based on true facts about UFOs and the paranormal. Viewers are advised to check their TV Guides.

Mobile Phone Facility

Members can contact IUFOPRA Executive Council personnel via a mobile phone (088-530332) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM, and on Monday evenings from 5:30 PM to 7:15 PM. The facility is unavailable on Saturdays and Sundays. For other times, members should write to the PO Box address, as mail is collected four days a week.

Publications

The next newsletter issue will feature a list of UFO books for members' interest.

Meetings

Committee members are reminded that the next Committee Meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 30th, 1994, at 8:00 PM in the Elland Conference Room at the Skylon Hotel, Drumcondra Road.

Membership Cards

A new type of Membership Identity Card will be issued to members shortly.

Closing Message

The newsletter concludes with the encouraging message, "KEEP WATCHING THE SKIES!"

Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance

The recurring themes in this newsletter are organizational updates, membership engagement, and the promotion of ufological research and awareness. The editorial stance appears to be one of proactive communication, aiming to keep members informed and involved in the IUFOPRA organization. There is a clear emphasis on transparency regarding journal publications and committee activities.
