Letters to the Editor
- Kenneth Homan from Bridgeton, New Jersey, praises NICAP's UFO EVIDENCE as the 'Bible of UFOlogy' and believes the Zamora incident alone proves the reality of flying saucers.
- Steve Erdmann from St. Louis, Missouri, thanks Jerome Clark for his objective review of NICAP's THE UFO EVIDENCE, finding it a refreshing contrast to other publications. He notes Clark's point that Major Keyhoe doesn't consider all 'little men' stories unnoteworthy.
- Jimmy Goddard from Middlesex, England, provides details about the Templeton photograph. He learned at a British UFO Research Association meeting that the cows' behavior suggested an electric forcefield from an invisible UFO. Attempts to contact Mr. Templeton have failed, and it's reported that a subsequent picture taken at the same location had the photo neatly cut out of the film. Goddard clarifies that Templeton is a fireman, not a professional photographer.
Reader Contributions and Sightings
- Victor Pence from Springfield, Ohio, speculates about the moon's surface, noting its softness in Ranger 7 photos and questioning if it might be a 'TWIN TO THE EARTH' with vegetation, referencing Ray Palmer's theories.
- Dr. J. Allen Hynek, Special UFO Consultant for the Air Force, verifies a newspaper quote stating that the Zamora story was told without intent to hoax and that the man was frightened. He reiterates that there is no evidence of visits from other planets, though the Socorro sighting is difficult to explain. He emphasizes the scientific need to investigate such cases for patterns.
- Major Wayne S. Aho from Washington D.C. reports on increased UFO activity, including a U.S. Army announcement of seven ships over Virginia and a Navy announcement. He details a sighting by five Air Force Officers at White Sands, New Mexico, of a large, oblong ship that hovered and then ascended vertically. Aho is involved in extensive work in the Mt. Rainier area, looking for a retreat or center, and has given lectures on UFOs in Seattle and Tacoma.
- Ralph J. Churches from Memphis, Tennessee, praises the publication for providing the latest information from reliable sources.
UFO Signals Over the U.S.A.
By Kenneth L. Larson, West Coast Branch Office Director
Larson presents a detailed analysis connecting UFO reports to the design of the U.S. Great Seal pyramid. He notes the pyramid has 13 levels with an 'eye' at the 14th level, and its base date is 1776, referencing the Declaration of Independence. The mottos and symbols (13 colonies, stars, arrows) are also discussed.
Larson claims to have discovered that this pyramid design is reproduced in a straight-line drawing involving American UFO reports from 1896 to the present. He coordinates geographical sites (mountains, lakes, cities) with UFO reports, dates, and straight lines on this drawing, suggesting the American West Coast was designed mathematically.
- Key points from Larson's analysis:
- Point A (Levelland, Texas): Represents seven UFO reports on 11-2-1957.
- Point B (White Sands, New Mexico): Corresponds to UFO reports on 4-24-1949 and 4-24-1964, exactly 15 years apart.
- Intervals: There are 5-year intervals between reports at Mount Rainier (1947) and Salt Lake City (1952), and between Mount Rainier and Levelland.
- Salton Sea (Point C): Located on a straight line with Levelland, divided into eight equal units of 95.4 miles.
- Angles: A 45-degree angle from Levelland intersects Salt Lake City (Point H), which is 763.2 miles away (eight units of 95.4 miles).
- Mount Rainier (Point D): Located northwest of Salt Lake City, with six units of 95.4 miles between them.
- Larson further connects these points to biblical and historical sites:
- Levelland, Texas: Represents the Bethlehem site, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, and the 'star of Bethlehem' UFO sighting on 11-2-1957.
- Mount Rainier: Represents the base of a 13-level pyramid.
- San Francisco (Point E): Intersects the base of a 13-level pyramid, founded in 1776, aligning with the Great Seal date.
- Mount Sinai: Represents a location where the Lord came down to Moses.
Larson also analyzes UFO reports from San Francisco (1896, 1956, 1961, 1962, 1964) and Red Bluff, California (1896, 1960, 1964), noting similarities in descriptions, particularly 'cigar-shaped' objects.
A report from Eureka, California, describes a 'multi-lighted object' observed on Sunday night, appearing cigar-shaped with a bright front light and three rear lights, making three complete orbits at an estimated 50,000 feet.
Mrs. Lucille Revels reported a large, 'saucer-like' object with a flame-red top and smaller discs circling it, observed near Anderson, California, on August 5, 1964. A brilliant blue UFO was seen at the Salton Sea on 4-11-1963, using ten signals of blue light, while a red UFO on 11-4-1957 used eight signals of colored light.
An article from THE REPORTER-HERALD, Loveland, Colorado, mentions an observer who claimed a UFO used Morse Code signals of light. Marvin E. Watson reported deciphering 'MA TEN' and 'EITHER SEND' before the object vanished.
Verdean Clark, a police dispatcher, described a glowing red object directly over Loveland, stationary, several hundred feet up, with blinking red lights on each side.
Al Ballenger described a crimson red object resembling the evening star.
Larson's diagram illustrates these geographical points and their relationships, including angles and distances, linking them to biblical sites like Bethlehem and Mount Sinai, and historical events.
Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The magazine strongly advocates for the reality of flying saucers and extraterrestrial visitation. The editorial stance is one of promoting serious investigation and public awareness of UFO phenomena. There is a clear effort to legitimize the subject by highlighting its coverage in mainstream publications and by organizing conventions and congresses. The detailed analysis by Kenneth L. Larson suggests a belief in underlying patterns and perhaps even a deliberate, structured aspect to UFO activity, linking it to ancient symbolism and historical events. The publication aims to be a primary source for the latest information in the field, contrasting itself with less rigorous UFO magazines.
This issue of UFO Magazine, identified as issue number 9, delves into a variety of topics related to UFOs, ancient mysteries, and speculative theories about Earth's interior and origins. The cover prominently features the question "ARE THESE EXTRATERRESTRIALS" accompanied by an illustration of a strange creature and a flying saucer, suggesting a focus on alien life and encounters.
Geometric Alignments and Ancient Sites
The issue begins by exploring geometric alignments, particularly those connecting locations like Levelland, Salton Sea, and Phoenix, Arizona. These alignments are presented as potentially significant in understanding UFO phenomena and ancient designs, drawing parallels with the Great Pyramid and the U.S.A. West Coast "exploded-view" design. The article links these sites to the U.S.A. Great Seal pyramid and suggests the possibility of buried records or objects at the Salton Sea, possibly related to the gold plates of Joseph Smith.
Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, is mentioned in relation to his 1805-1844 life, the recovery of the gold plates in 1827, and his death in 1844. His first vision in 1820, described as a bright light, is also noted, with the 1844 date signifying a 'Great Step level' in the Great Pyramid.
Several UFO reports are cataloged, including those in Phoenix (1947, 1962), Los Angeles (1942, 1957), Carson, Nevada (1952), and Redmond, Oregon (1959). The article also references the Rosetta Stone and an 18° 42' angle related to the Nile Delta design and potentially to Joseph Smith's 1842 revelations.
UFO Banks Sharply to Avoid Hitting Auto in Kansas
A specific incident is recounted involving Mrs. Karen Campbell of Ulysses, Kansas, who reported a near-miss with a flying saucer. The object was described as skimming the highway at high speed, banking sharply to avoid her car, and emitting a noise like rushing wind. It was approximately four feet high, dull copper in color, with no visible lights and a bubble on top. The object also had a visible center piece on its underside.
Are These Extraterrestrials?
This section, authored by Timothy Green Beckley, explores the possibility of life from outer space traveling to Earth in flying saucers. It details an account from Claudia Williams in Phoenix, Arizona, who discovered a strange creature. The creature was sent to Arizona State University for examination, where its origin could not be determined, but it emitted a strong, offensive odor. The article also references a story from Rev. Frank Stranges about an Air Force man who provided photos of a similar creature. This creature was reportedly seen dropping from a low-flying UFO into a lake in West Virginia, turning red, and then shooting off into the sky. The creature was later recovered from the lake. A similar creature was also featured in an Italian UFO magazine.
Report from England
This section welcomes new friends in England and introduces Susanne R. Stebbing as the England Director, who will distribute UFO material and advertise on 'Radio City.' Miss Stebbing is noted as a major distributor of UFO books and magazines.
T.V. Documentary Probes "Mystery of Stonehenge"
The documentary "Mystery of Stonehenge" on CBS News Special, broadcast on February 1, 1965, is discussed. Stonehenge, a prehistoric ruin near London, is examined, with the theory that it was used as an astronomical observatory and crude computer, as suggested by American astronomer Gerald Hawkins. Commentators included Patrick Moore, Dr. Frank George, Dr. Glyn Daniel, and Prof. R.J.C. Atkinson. The documentary concluded with the sun appearing over the headstone, aligning with ancient astronomical practices.
U.F.O. Appears Over Herne Bay
A UFO was observed on December 16, 1964, in Herne Bay, England. This sighting coincided with the mysterious 'Radio Invicta disaster,' where the Director, Sir Tom Pepper, was found attached to a raft after his ship, which supplied the radio station at sea, was destroyed. Two crew members were missing. The UFO appeared as a white light moving towards the Thames Estuary. It suddenly changed direction and headed towards shore before vanishing. The object was observed around 5 P.M., after the ship had departed.
The section also notes the death of Waveney Girvan, editor of England's FLYING SAUCER REVIEW, on October 22, 1964.
Who Lives Inside Planet Earth?
Authored by Michael X. Barton, this article poses the question of who or what lives inside planet Earth. The author expresses a belief that beings with advanced intelligence might reside within the Earth, a notion dismissed by his neighbor as "idiotic." Barton suggests that these beings might be living there, unbeknownst to humanity on the surface. He references his book, "Rainbow City and the Inner Earth People," and discusses the possibility of these ideas contributing to the UFO mystery.
The Strange Disappearance of Dr. Wallace C. Halsey
The article recounts the disappearance of Dr. Wallace C. Halsey, founder of the Christ Brotherhood and a UFO researcher, in March 1963. Dr. Halsey and another individual vanished in a lightplane while flying from Logan, Utah, to Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite a thorough 20-day search, no trace of the plane or its occupants was found. Dr. Halsey was known to strongly believe in an "inner earth" and was searching for openings into it. His disappearance is categorized as a mystery in UFOlogy.
The author questions why governments involved in IGY expeditions to Antarctica have not announced any "entrances" to the Earth's interior, suggesting either their non-existence or cunning concealment. The article links UFO sightings rising from and plunging into the sea to the possibility of travel to and from an Inner Earth.
Atlantis and the "Land of Nod"
The mythologies of gods "coming out of the sea" are discussed, along with the story of Atlantis. The Atlanteans are said to have established a colony at Sais, Egypt, and possessed advanced science. The article suggests that remnants of the Atlantean civilization might still survive today, possibly as American Indians or in unexplored regions of Antarctica. The "land of Nod," mentioned in the Christian Bible as the place where Cain was exiled, is also brought up as a potential location within the planet.
The author encourages readers to "THINK" and suggests reading the "Book of Enoch," which allegedly describes pre-flood conditions, advanced human technology (spaceships), and the use of atmospheric and atomic power to incline the Earth's axis. The Book of Enoch is said to have been excluded from the Bible because it detailed the existence of "evil giants" and "evil magicians" who were sent into the INTERIOR of the planet.
The article concludes this section by questioning the physical appearance of these potential inhabitants of the Inner Earth and whether their "spaceships" are an inherited technology.
The Steve Brodie Story
This section details the "Steve Brodie Story," which the author is publishing for the first time. The author states he lends credence to the "Shaver Mystery" and has been unable to answer questions arising from Steve's story. The author knew Steve, an artist who lived beneath him in Jersey City in 1944. Steve was described as about thirty-five years old, short, powerfully built, with a healthy complexion and long brown hair. His dull blue eyes appeared sad, and his manner was kindly and meditative.
Steve was a recluse who rarely spoke of his past. He had peculiar habits: he never ate meat, seemed fearful of being followed, and was comfortable around police officers. He also abstained from alcohol, smoking, and drugs. Steve had a hobby of creating jewelry from old buttons and was an artist who painted strange, eerie landscapes. These paintings often depicted scenes with multiple suns or moons, and unusual erosion patterns, suggesting "nightmare forces."
Steve's story, which he eventually related after the author promised secrecy, began seven years prior when he and a friend went to gather semi-precious stones in the West, possibly near Arizona. They visited a small town 15 miles from a mesa where they expected to find the stones. Steve refused to disclose the exact location or type of stone, fearing the author's inquisitive nature might lead him to investigate and encounter danger.
Steve's disappearance is presented as a mystery, and the author feels his promise of secrecy is no longer binding due to this event. The story is presented as a part of the "Shaver Mystery."
Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The recurring themes in this issue revolve around unexplained phenomena, particularly UFO sightings and encounters, and speculative theories about hidden realities. The magazine explores connections between ancient sites, geometric patterns, and potential extraterrestrial or unknown terrestrial intelligences. The "Inner Earth" theory, the existence of Atlanteans, and the possibility of beings from other dimensions or hidden realms are prominent. The editorial stance appears to be one of open inquiry into these mysteries, encouraging readers to consider unconventional ideas and to "THINK" for themselves, even when presented with information that challenges conventional understanding. The inclusion of the "Shaver Mystery" and the peculiar story of Steve Brodie further emphasizes a fascination with the unexplained and the potentially hidden aspects of human experience and history.
This issue of "A PRIEST U.F.O. FAN" delves into various aspects of UFOlogy, featuring a mix of personal accounts, theoretical discussions, and critical analyses of existing literature. The cover story, "A TRILLION DOLLAR CRAFT," by Guy J. Cyr, speculates on the immense value of flying saucer technology.
Steve's Abduction Account
The issue presents a detailed narrative from an individual named Steve, who recounts an alleged abduction experience. He and his partner ventured into a desert region near a mesa, warned by townspeople about disappearances. Upon reaching the mesa, they encountered two cowled figures. One figure, using a slim rod-like instrument, paralyzed Steve, while another emitted an intense beam of light that killed his partner, leaving behind the smell of burned human flesh. A third figure, appearing to emerge from the rock, approached Steve and placed a headset-like device behind his ears, causing him to black out. Steve later discovered seared, circular patches of skin behind his ears where hair would not grow, which he identified as marks of a 'Dero Slave.' He recalls waking several times in cage-like enclosures with other humans who identified their captors as 'The Deros' and the location as 'The Caves.' He was eventually released and found himself on Broadway near Times Square, having lost approximately two years of his life, evidenced by a long beard and the need for a haircut. He also developed an aversion to eating meat. Later, a traveling salesman reported seeing Steve in Arizona, appearing disoriented and in a 'drunken stupor,' and noted his disappearance from a train.
The 'Dero' Theory
Steve's account introduces the concept of 'The Deros,' who are depicted as captors of human slaves. The narrative suggests that these beings operate from underground 'Caves' and possess the ability to induce memory loss and control individuals, turning them into 'mindless robot slaves.'
UFOs and Continental Shapes: A Zodiacal Connection
Another significant article, "A PARTIAL SOLUTION TO THE UFO. PROBLEM" by George C. Wilson, proposes a theory linking UFOs to the shapes of Earth's continents. The author suggests that UFOs, or 'Selenites' from other worlds, have influenced the Earth's surface over millennia. Citing a pictorial script found on a crashed flying saucer, the article claims that continents are not drifting but are interconnected parts of a whole, shaped like Zodiac constellations. This theory posits that this alignment with the heavens prevents catastrophic earthquakes caused by planetary movements. For instance, North America is described as being in the shape of Leo. The article also touches upon the idea that UFOs manage global affairs, preventing a 'United States of the World' and potentially influencing wars, particularly in Europe under Aries. Eastern Russia, described as being in Cancer, is presented as a home that cannot be conquered by land armies due to its protective nature, influenced by lunar phases.
Critique of UFO Literature
Steve Erdmann's article, "AND THEN THERE WERE NONE: DONALD H. MENZEL'S WORLD OF FLYING SAUCERS," critically examines Donald H. Menzel and L.G. Boyd's book. Erdmann contends that Menzel and Boyd present 'half-truths' and 'glittering generalities,' particularly in their dismissal of the Tremonton movie case, which they attribute to gulls. He argues that Menzel's method relies on statistical analysis rather than individual case reality, which can misrepresent the truth. The article also critiques the 'Ryan Case,' suggesting that Menzel and Boyd downplay the importance of a TV interview and newspaper account that supported Captain Ryan's UFO sighting. Erdmann criticizes the authors' 'faith' in government secrecy and their apparent unwillingness to accept the reality of UFOs, attributing this to a desire for false security. The article also mentions Carol Carol Lorenzen's book, "THE GREAT FLYING SAUCER HOAX," and Donald Keyhoe's work with NICAP, highlighting efforts to bring UFO topics to public attention and congressional hearings.
Other Content
The issue also includes a brief mention of a lecture and film by George Adamski, showcasing his UFO film which reportedly depicted UFOs dancing and interacting with the environment, and had been shown to a government committee. The film is described as a daytime recording of 'Space Craft IN ACTION.'
Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The recurring themes in this issue revolve around the reality of UFOs and extraterrestrial encounters, the potential for government cover-ups, and the exploration of unconventional theories connecting celestial phenomena with earthly events. The editorial stance appears to be one that supports the investigation of UFO phenomena, critically examines skeptical viewpoints, and presents a platform for diverse theories and personal accounts within the field of UFOlogy.
This issue of "INVADERS FROM SPACE" presents a collection of articles and reports focused on UFO sightings, alien encounters, and their potential connections to ancient history and mythology. The magazine aims to explore the unexplained phenomena of flying saucers and extraterrestrial activity.
"Invaders From Space" by W. R. Drake
The lead article, "Invaders From Space," by W. R. Drake, paints a dramatic picture of an Earth under siege by alien invaders. The narrative begins with a cataclysmic battle where Earth's defenses are overwhelmed by advanced alien technology. Lightning, fire, and smoke engulf the planet as silver spaceships descend. The story then shifts to a more historical and mythological context, suggesting that these invaders, aided by underground wizards, have overthrown a glorious civilization. It references the fall of Atlantis and the destruction of ancient cities. The narrative touches upon a past conflict involving a mission to Jupiter where the secret of solar fire was stolen, leading to the current war. The story concludes with a sense of hope as the "Leader" works to rebuild and prepare for a future counter-offensive.
Science Fiction? Fantasy of the Future?
This section explores the idea that ancient myths and legends might be early accounts of UFO encounters and alien interactions. It draws parallels between modern UFO reports and stories from Greek and Roman writers like Aeschylus, Euripedes, Hesiod, Ovid, and Tacitus. The article discusses the Golden Age ruled by Cronos, the rebellion of Jupiter, the theft of fire by Prometheus, and the myth of Pandora's box, suggesting these could be allegorical representations of advanced technology or extraterrestrial influence. It also mentions legends of electric blasts in Scotland, thunderbolts of Zeus, and celestial chariots in ancient India, linking them to potential evidence of advanced phenomena.
Crater Case Strikes Virginia
This article details a significant UFO incident that occurred in Augusta County, Virginia, on December 21st, 1964. Mr. Horace Burns, a gunsmith, reported seeing a large metallic object, described as an inverted ice cream cone, land in a field near Waynesboro. His car lost power during the sighting. A subsequent radiation check of the site by Professor Ernest Gehman revealed high radiation counts (over 60,000 counts per minute). Two Air Force investigators from Project Bluebook arrived weeks later and found no radiation, a discrepancy noted by the author. The article highlights the unusual nature of the case and the Air Force's involvement, suggesting it was not a routine investigation.
Two New Contacts
This section presents two separate accounts of close encounters with UFOs.
Whidby Island Contact
An anonymous resident of Whidby Island, Washington, identified as Mrs. Ruth Brown, reported two encounters with a strange craft. In the first, she observed a hovering object that vanished. In the second, the transparent craft approached her house, piloted by three figures. One figure emerged, conversing with Mrs. Brown and stating, "One of our party knows you! We will return!". The UFO then appeared to take in water or fuel before shrinking and flying away. The craft was described as transparent, and the grass below it was re-shaped.
Waynesboro Contact
A local industrial worker in Waynesboro, Virginia, reported seeing two noiseless, unlighted flying craft. Three beings, described as 35 to 37 inches tall, emerged from the smaller craft and approached him. They were shaped like humans but had long fingers and eyes that seemed to look through him. The beings carried no weapons and did not appear hostile. The witness described the vehicle as "shiny looking" and made of polished metal or glass. The encounter lasted about 35 minutes.
Radar Operators Track UFO
This brief report details an incident on December 29th, 1964, where Navy radar operators at Patuxent Naval Air Station, Maryland, observed two high-speed objects on their scope. The objects approached at approximately 4,800 miles an hour, executed a tight turn, and disappeared. The article notes that this speed far exceeds that of the X-15 experimental plane, raising questions about the nature of the objects.
Mysterious Blaze Wipes Out Radar Complex Used to Identify UFO's
This article connects a mysterious fire that destroyed a costly radar system at Eglin Air Force Base on January 5th, 1965, with UFO activity. The radar system was designed to detect and identify objects from outer space. The author speculates whether the "space boys" might have been responsible for the fire, suggesting that disasters have occurred when attempts were made to make contact with alien ships. The incident is linked to earlier sightings of mysterious green lighted objects over Cape Kennedy in December 1964.
Flying Saucers Again - Flap Continues!
This section compiles several brief reports of UFO sightings from various locations.
Mysterious Light Seen Over Lake
On Saturday, November 7th, 1964, residents in seven Wisconsin counties reported seeing a large, extremely bright flash in the sky, lasting longer than lightning. Dr. J. Allen Hynek theorized it was a bolide (extremely bright meteor).
Salt Lake City Sightings
Unidentified objects, described as white and disc-shaped, were seen over southeast Salt Lake City on Friday, November 6th, 1964. Observers watched them through binoculars as they moved towards Mt. Olympus.
Unknown Object Sighted in Argentina
On November 14th, 1964, Argentine astronomers were puzzled by a red, unidentified flying object that crossed the southern night sky at a speed of 4½ times that of a normal satellite. The object was described as elongated and flattened.
Hutchinson, Wisconsin - Object in Sky Changes Color
Shortly before 11 p.m. on Monday, November 16th, 1964, an unusual light that appeared to be from a falling star was noticed south of Hutchinson. The light turned from orange to blue to green and then back to orange before disappearing.

- February 7th: Mrs. E. Townsend observed a bright yellowish light with ragged edges over Ashland, Oregon. A resident also reported seeing the light and contacted local police.
Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The recurring themes in this issue include the persistent nature of UFO sightings, the potential for alien invasion or visitation, and the historical parallels found in ancient myths and legends. The editorial stance appears to be one of open inquiry into these phenomena, presenting various reports and theories without outright dismissal, while also acknowledging official investigations and their limitations. There's a clear emphasis on the idea that flying saucer reports are real and ongoing, as evidenced by the "Flap Continues!" section and the "RADAR OPERATORS TRACK U.F.O." report. The magazine seems to encourage readers to believe in these phenomena, as suggested by the quote, "Now THAT most people can believe."
Title: THE SEARCHLIGHT
Issue: 39
Issue Date: 1965
Publisher: Timothy Beckley
Country: USA
Language: English
This issue of THE SEARCHLIGHT, dated 1965, focuses heavily on UFO phenomena, presenting a collection of articles, eyewitness accounts, and promotional material related to flying saucers and potential extraterrestrial contact.
A PARTIAL SOLUTION TO THE U.F.O. PROBLEM (Continued from Page 25)
This article posits that astronomical phenomena, specifically the Westward precession of the equinoxes, might offer a partial explanation for UFO occurrences and historical events. It notes that the Sun moves Westward at approximately 50 seconds per year, causing constellations to shift their position relative to the Celestial Equator. An example given is Aries moving about 10 degrees Northward of the Celestial Equator over 2100 years. The article also links planetary positions to major earthquakes, citing the Agadir, Morocco earthquake on March 1, 1960, and Mars' position at that time in the constellation Capricorn.
INVADERS FROM SPACE (Continued from Page 30)
This section connects contemporary UFO reports with ancient myths from Mexico and the South Seas, suggesting a universal story of past aerial conflicts. It proposes that extraterrestrials are visiting Earth, some with potentially malevolent intentions, and that activity on the Moon might indicate the construction of an alien base. The article speculates that by the end of the century, humanity might unite to repel these invaders. It references prophecies by Nostradamus, the New Testament, and modern astrologers, foretelling the destruction of current civilization and a subsequent rebirth in the Aquarian Age, emphasizing a cyclical nature of history.
CRATER CASE STRIKES VIRGINIA (Continued from Page 33)
This article details a UFO sighting in Virginia involving an unusual, though not entirely unknown, shape. Key points include the stalling of a witness's car, attributed to an E-M effect, alleged radiation, and a distinct 'whooshing' sound upon takeoff, discounting visual illusion. The reliability of the witness and investigator is noted as a potential factor, but the article points out that the Air Force team did not appear to question them. The incident is described as baffling.
FLYING SAUCERS ARE REAL!
This section includes promotional material for "INTERPLANETARY NEWS SERVICE" and "WELCOME SPACE PEOPLE," offering personalized ballpoint pens as gifts. It also reports on a hoax in New Jersey where an 18-year-old, Michael Hallowich, was fined $50 for rigging a phony spaceship landing to raise money for his education. The hoax involved charring an area in the woods and creating an elaborate scene to simulate a landing.
WORLD'S-FAIR-ACKNOWLEDGES FLYING-SAUCERS
This section reports on the "PHENOMENAL RESPONSE" for International UFOlogists Day 1965 at the New York World's Fair. It includes statements from various individuals and organizations expressing support and anticipation for the event. Murray Dorn, assistant to the President, forwards a letter to Walter E. Giebelhaus, in charge of Special Events. Allen Greenfield, Director of A.M.U.F.O., fully supports the convention. W.O.R. Radio reported on the first bulletin, and noted researcher Y.N. ibn Aharon commented on the possibility of a 1965 UFOLOGISTS DAY. Major Wayne and Major Aho expressed optimism for a "BREAKTHROUGH IN CONSCIOUSNESS" related to space legions and interplanetary craft. The Cosmic Brotherhood Association from Japan and Vicosmic Lab. also sent messages of support. George Adamski writes about the possibility of seeing "SPACE CRAFT IN ACTION." Washington Saucer Intelligence emphasizes the need for a united front in backing UFO visitation facts. Other supporters include James Rigberg's FLYING SAUCER NEWS and IIOUFO. Readers are urged to send support and demands for the International UFOlogists Day to Timothy Green Beckley, Coordinator, at 3 Courtland Street, New Brunswick, New Jersey.
MORE SIGHTINGS 1964 '65 FLAP!
This section details several UFO sightings:
- February 27: Mr. Merton Fuel of Talent, Oregon, and his wife observed about 30 large, slowly moving lights, some as large as truck tires, and a strange oblong craft.
- March 5: Newspaper and radio switchboards were jammed as hundreds reported seeing flying saucers over New South Wales. The crafts were described as large white-headed objects with fiery red tails, traveling from northeast to southeast.
ROEOT FLIES FY SAUCER TO FLORIDA
On March 5, 1965, John F. Reeves was walking in the woods near Brooksville, Florida, when he saw a Flying Saucer about 700 yards away. As he approached, a robot-type creature emerged from the craft and approached him. The creature lifted what Reeves perceived as a camera to its chin and flashed it. After the creature returned to the saucer, it dropped two pieces of paper with "queer writing" on them, which were given to an investigating team from MacDill Air Force Base. Reeves described the robot as about 5 feet tall, stocky, with dark tan flesh, wearing a gray canvas suit and a glass dome helmet. The saucer was described as 20 to 30 feet in diameter, 6 feet high, with a four-legged landing gear, bluish-green and reddish-purple in color, with two windows on top. It took off with a whistling and rumbling noise, traveling at an estimated speed of 5,000 miles an hour or better. The incident was turned over to Project Blue book at Wright-Paterson Air Force Base.
FLYING SAUCERS CONTINUE TO LAND AND MAKE CONTACT IN BIGGEST FLAP IN UFO HISTORY.
Sid Padrick, a TV repairman from Watsonville, California, claims to have boarded a spacecraft on January 30, 1965. He describes a 9-man crew in bluish-white suits and a captain named Mr. Ziena. Padrick was told that the visitors had been to Earth many times and would continue to do so. He felt the encounter had religious overtones and was convinced the visitors were not hostile. The Air Force reportedly advised him to remain silent about the craft's appearance.

Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The recurring themes in this issue revolve around the reality of UFOs and extraterrestrial visitation, the potential for alien invasion, and the possibility of government secrecy or cover-ups. The editorial stance appears to be one of promoting the belief in UFOs and encouraging readers to actively support UFOlogy, particularly through the push for an International UFOlogists Day. There is a strong emphasis on presenting eyewitness accounts and 'evidence' to support the idea that "FLYING SAUCERS ARE REAL!" The magazine also touches upon historical and astronomical explanations for phenomena, as well as prophetic elements, suggesting a broad interest in the unexplained and its potential impact on humanity's future.
