Cover Story: Alien Encounter in Cisco Grove (September 4, 1964)
The cover of this issue features an illustration depicting a man with a bow and arrow confronting alien figures in a forest. The accompanying article details an incident involving Donald Shrum, Vinie Alvare, and Tim Trueblood on a bow hunting trip in Cisco Grove, California.
Shrum reported hearing a strange sound and seeing an odd light hovering in the night sky, accompanied by two other lights. He climbed a tree for safety. A dark, dome-shaped, saucer-like object then fell from the main light. Two alien figures, described as about five and a half feet tall, wearing silver uniforms and helmets, approached. Shrum identified a third figure as robot-like. The robot creature reportedly expelled a white vapor that made Shrum light-headed. Shrum claimed to have shot three arrows at the robot, causing a bright flash upon impact. He awoke in the morning to find the aliens gone. His companions, Alvare and Trueblood, only reported seeing a strange light that night.

NEW COMET: Hale-Bopp
Two amateur astronomers independently discovered a new comet, potentially the brightest in 20 years. Comet Hale-Bopp is expected to be visible to the naked eye when it passes Earth in winter 1996-97. Geoff Chester, an astronomer at the National Air and Space Museum, described it as intrinsically bright and distant.
MILKY WAY FEEDING FRENZY
Astronomers have observed that the Milky Way galaxy has been devouring a nearby dwarf galaxy in Sagittarius. This process, where the Milky Way rips apart and feasts on other dwarf galaxies, has been occurring for millions of years. The Sagittarius Dwarf, discovered in 1994, is only 50,000 light-years from the galactic center and was tidally disrupted by the Milky Way's gravity.
Orbiting Galaxies
A brief note mentions that galaxies are orbiting the Milky Way and gradually drifting farther apart, citing Astronomy Magazine, December 1995.
A Retro Look at "Flying Discs" Seen Over Korea in 1952
The Air Force disclosed that objects resembling "flying discs" were sighted over Korea by U.S. bomber crew members. An investigation was ordered. Eyewitnesses described the objects as globe-shaped, bright orange, and emitting occasional bluish light. The reports were considered significant due to being from military personnel. Two B-29 Superfortress crew members reported seeing the objects flying parallel to their plane at about midnight on January 29th, near Wonsan and Sunchon, Korea. The objects remained visible for several minutes. This announcement contrasted with the Air Force's usual skepticism towards UFO reports.

Around and About the Saucer World by Rick R. Hilberg
This column covers events and personal experiences related to ufology.
WE GO TO THE 32nd NATIONAL UFO CONFERENCE
Rick R. Hilberg recounts his experience at the 32nd National UFO Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, which took place on Friday the 13th in October. Despite the bad weather, he and his wife Carol attended, anticipating lectures and meeting fellow UFO enthusiasts. He mentions interacting with convention chairman Jim Moseley and the diverse lineup of speakers.
Keynote Speaker: Leah Haley
Leah Haley, an author and self-proclaimed abductee, was the keynote speaker. Her claims included repeated abductions by grey aliens, kidnapping, and drugging by government agents, as well as being on a UFO that crashed. Hilberg found her to be a sincere and good speaker.
Other Speakers and Attendees
George Fawcett, a UFO investigator with over 30 years of experience, gave a presentation. Cope Schellhorn presented on UFOs and earth changes. Dr. Frank Stranges served as the master of ceremonies. Don Cook, an early supporter of the NUFOC, was also present, bringing old photographs and publications.
Doctor Probes Alleged Alien "Implants"
An anonymous California surgeon discusses his involvement in investigating alleged alien "implants." He performed operations on two individuals who claimed to be abductees, extracting small, unusual foreign objects from a big toe and a man's hand. These objects were encased in a tough, dark membrane and were highly magnetic, glowing green under ultraviolet light. The surgeon expressed concern about professional repercussions but felt compelled to investigate. The objects are being sent to Houston for further analysis.
1917 Flap in Colorado?
An article from the Salina, Colorado Mountain Mail, dated September 7, 1995, references a report from The Salida Record of September 7, 1917. It describes Salida residents observing mysterious "vehicles of the air" with lights in various positions in the night sky during the week of September 1-7, 1917. These lights were in motion, disappeared and reappeared, and were observed by prominent members of the community. One object was examined with a telescope and appeared to be a revolving wheel with vari-colored lights, about three feet in diameter. The article concludes by questioning whether it was a new invention or something else entirely.

An invitation to join "The UFO Group" for a $5.00 lifetime membership is extended. The group offers information on UFOs and buys used books, videos, and photos. Contact Jim Gialpis at 50 Sleepy Hollow Rd., Niantic, CT 06357.
Several Mysterious Objects in New Mexico
This section reports on two separate sightings in Deming, New Mexico, from July 1995.
Greg Granado's Sighting (July 29, 1995)
Greg Granado reported seeing a ball of fire, red in the middle and orange around the outside, appear suddenly high in the sky. He described it as flying straight across the sky from east to west, much faster than a plane, and then disappearing instantly without an arc. He contacted the police, who were not surprised by his report.
Jerry Hernandez and Steve Kucera's Sighting (July 29, 1995)
Jerry Hernandez and his brother Steve Kucera reported seeing two lights, resembling bright truck headlights, northeast of Deming. They were too high to be a truck and appeared to bank slightly. Hernandez noted there were no hills in that direction. Kucera observed the lights were still present after they passed. The report is sourced from the Deming, New Mexico Headlight, August 3, 1995.
Recurring Themes and Editorial Stance
The magazine consistently focuses on UFO sightings, alien encounters, and related phenomena, presenting reports from various time periods and locations. It also covers UFO conferences, new astronomical findings, and offers a platform for collectors of UFO-related memorabilia. The publisher, United Aerial Phenomena Agency (UAPA), is a non-profit organization dedicated to the study of UFOs. The editorial stance appears to be one of open-minded investigation into these phenomena, while also acknowledging skepticism and the need for evidence, as indicated by the quote from Barry Karr.
