In such cases, the conscious entity may choose not to return, and the subconscious part of the entity within the body might also leave, resulting in the infant's death.

This interpretation draws upon the concept of the 'triune self,' described as the lower self, middle self (conscious mind), and higher self (spiritual self). The lower self is said to enter the fetus early in development, initiating birth and early life. The middle or conscious self may not enter at the time of birth but waits, becoming noticeable as the child develops a personality. The higher self, or spiritual self, hovers near the body, guiding the experience and influencing those around, often perceived as a guardian angel.

An entity is considered incomplete if the body does not contain all three aspects of the triune self, or if integration has not occurred. If the higher self does not remain within the body, the middle self does not enter, and the lower self deems the situation unpleasant, the entire triune self can withdraw, leaving only the physical body.

Recommendations for Preventing SIDS

To help avoid crib death, Cosmic Awareness suggests that children need to be held as much as possible. Increased affection and attention, along with a more pleasant environment, are believed to enhance the child's chances of survival and remaining within its body. The early stages of a child's life are highlighted as critical, with the child's vitality fluctuating between the physical body and the other plane. When a child sleeps, it is essentially on the 'other side,' with just enough vitality in the body to sustain it. If the desire for life diminishes, the child may withdraw.

A postscript to the reading adds a practical suggestion: raising the infant's crib slightly so that the head is higher than the feet may also help prevent SIDS.
